I had a bottle of Nelson last night, agree that the finish is off. Still a great beer, but not the same at all. It's definitely falling short on the tail end.

Just finished off a bomber of GF Nelson, $9.99 retail :slight_frown: But it tasted excellent. They (GF and Alpine) are dialing in the process. Is it the same legendary beer? No. Is it close and still worth 10 bucks, an emphatic yes.

No IPA is worth $10 a bomber IMO. If they plan on these being year round shelf beers, they'll need to drop the price after everybody gets their initial fill.

I've notice the Hoppy Birthdays and Duets aren't aren't even moving that well in North County at $7.99. IMO those need to be priced at $5.99.

Can you get the special releases at Green Flash, or just what's brewed at GF?

As an update, just crushed a duet and hoppy birthday. Man, the Duet sucked. Barely drinkable and nothing resembling the original. Hoppy birthday was just meh. Would not purchase either again. 8.99 price point at a gougy liquor store.

For the record, I've had terrible flat Duet straight from Alpine. Maybe it's just the beer and not who brews it.

Well…remember back in the day when PH was way off? I believe it was a bottling issue.

I don't want to tell you how to live your life but... if you don't have enough to bathe in than you are doing it wrong.

I've never been a huge Duet fan, though I've caught some excellent batches on occasion. PH, on the other hand, has been, to my palate anyway, usually good and occasionally incredible. That said, not super holding my breath that GF can nail it (and, besides, is a couple week old bottle of PH really gonna taste the same as a couple days fresh draught pour at the pub? In my mind, it's hard to imagine finding a way to translate that super fresh, pungent hop character from the brewpub into large distribution.)

Mine also, even though $9.99 was a little steep - local spot in Dana Point had it as well as Duet and Hoppy Birthday. Skipped the Duet, but thought the HB was tasty (Nelson was excellent).

I've seen reports all over the place, but the consensus if there is one is that it has been getting better.

Got two bottles of GF Nelson at a Bevmo in Orange at $7.99/bottle over the weekend. Overall I really enjoyed them. The fact that I can just walk in to a Bevmo and grab a couple Nelsons off the shelf is freaking awesome. Is it perfect? Maybe not, but IMO to save the 3 hour round trip drive it is certainly worth it!
