Grossly underestimated the crowd. Showing up at 3pm hoping for little to no line was a laugher. Still at least a couple hundred deep. Could wait wait and gotten through in an hour probably but just kept going with other plans. I did hear they still have bottles at 8 and may still have tomorrow too. p.s. Boozy Mother sold out in under 4 hours but they will have more tomorrow (2pp).

Save your money- Boozy is hugely disappointing IMO. If I had to guess I'd say that beer didn't sit in the barrel more than 30 days. Not much difference between it and the base. $18 a bottle is highway robbery.

I was planning on going through line twice but it took so long I didn't have time to. Swung back by around 5:30-6 pm no line got another draft and 4 more bottles.

Nothing quite like showing up at 1230pm and waiting patiently only to see people walking back and forth to their car with multiple bottles after cutting in line and bragging that they currently have "12 bottles at least". I know it happens at every event but people had some nerve yesterday. Tickets need to happen next time.

I gotta give props to HW for this year's Trickery. I was a little bit worried that ramping up the production like they did that the beer quality might suffer like it did after the first GBS release. Happily, that isn't the case as this batch is just as tasty as last year's. Good job, guys.

If there was one disappointment it was the fact they didn't have any special taps just for Trickery Day. Rumors were floating around about a double barrel Trickery surprise, but sadly it didn't materialize.

So did it all sell out yesterday?

I don't think so. I heard reports that there were still bottles to be had around 8pm. After that, who knows...

Gotcha. Just wondering if it's worth calling in a favor to some of my RVA buddies to swing by for me. I wouldn't ask them to go stand in a huge line, but if they can just swing by and grab a bottle then one could probably be persuaded to get out of bed and do it. Hell I'd drive up there myself if I knew for sure they'd still be there.

Supposedly, around 400 bottles are hitting local distro so maybe just give them a heads-up if they make the bottle shop rounds next week. Maybe someone will hit them up when they open around noon today and post a supply update here.

I was really surprised at the cost when I asked. I understand they need to cover costs from barrels to age, printing labels, bottles, ingredients, etc but that for a bomber is very high. I do love Choosy Mother and don't get to RVA that often so figured what the hell since I made the trip in part to grab a couple.

I probably should clarify that Boozy Mother on it's own is a really good beer, but I think it's mostly because the base is so good. I was mostly disappointed that the barrel aging did very little to improve or change the base IMO and for that I said it's a big letdown. The $18 price tag just made matters worse to me, especially since a pint of the base is $6.

I agree with this. It's a very tasty beer, but I don't taste much barrel. Would be very pleased were these $9 bombers.

I assumed this. Hard for anyone to say the base is not a good beer. I did see they have Choosy in bombers too but did not think to ask the cost for those. curious to know the difference. Also see next week they are selling Boozy as part of a 3 pack (The Bribe, Choosy, Boozy). Definitely taking advantage of the Boozy chatter by locking it in with 2 others.

Trickery is so tasty. But damned if I don't think Ruse may be the diamond of the whole barrel aged bunch. So much complexity. Like a chocolate covered cherry/grape hybrid.

I'm sure its a halfcourt shot but has anyone heard anything solid about this distro? I missed this one.

Not a peep about distro and I follow all of the local pages (I am aware of) on social media. So maybe next week on distro or at the very least maybe those locations with scheduled GBS Release Parties next week will have a silent availability of Trickery as well (one can dream).

I never heard anyone tell me it should hit distro on Wednesday. I also would not believe it would be 1 pp, only a case or two, and likely to sell out fast. Too bad I have to work and have no one that would stop by to get me one.
