But you aren't getting "Alpine Nelson" if you make that drive, so the point is moot.

OK, then put it this way. If I had the option to choose between what I had last weekend locally, or driving 3 hours to Alpine to get "Alpine Nelson" (when it was available) I would choose the local option 9 times out of 10. Assuming the quality stays or improves. For me, time=money, so convenience adds value. I don't want to sacrifice the quality, but the balance right now is working. I've had two in the last 24 hours, and now want to pop by another Bevmo for some more.

I would make the 2 hour drive south to Alpine for the big 3 (when available) and special release growler fills to bring home. Worth it.

    From Alpine FB -
"And yet another new beer! Folks, meet Hop Boxed! This West Coast IPA is 7% and chocked full of Citra and Mosaic hops!! This will be growler fill only and will be available for draught at our pub on Tuesday! We at Alpine believe that good beer is meant to be shared... Take one down, and pass it around."

Bad Boy and High Kicks are also still flowing.

I gotta say, I wasn't impressed with Duet and Hoppy BDay (the green flash versions) but I finally got to try Nelson (also the GF version) and it is AWESOME! If the actual alpine version is better, then I need to get my hands on some ASAP.

What this thread needs is more anecdotal data points on the GF brewed alpine IPAs.

well shit, if outsourcing the core beers to GF means they'll pump out a bunch of experimental/one-off/special releases up there then it'll still be worth making the trip up the hill…

Just killed a 32 oz growler of hop box it's a great beer.
Keep brewing the regular lineup at Green Flash and keep the special/one offs coming.

Does anyone know if any other Alpine IPAs are being brewed at Green Flash?

I picked up a growler of this today and I just opened it, another world class new IPA ! ABC is killing it lately with all these new special IPA/DIPAs. This kind of reminds me of Mosaic Showers which is a huge compliment, but the addition of the Citra takes it to a different level all together. Bravo ABC ! Love this new direction with all the new recipes, BTW……let Scotty loose again, I saw him at the brewery today to personally tell him that his High Kicks is nutzoid good.

    Cheers…….

I concur, HFS is worthy of its name.

Has anyone tried one of the GF 12 oz bottles of Pure Hoppiness yet? I've seen prices at $18.99, $19.99 and $22.99 for a 6 pack.

So happy to know I'm basically guaranteed a great one off these days when I make a trip to Alpine...

Grabbed a 6 pack at lunch (I'm trying to keep an open mind) but there was no pricing in their system yet. The guy said "you're probably lucking out today" and charged me $15.99. He also said "only 200 cases of 6 packs were released around San Diego". No idea the truth to that.

I talked to a guy last week at BevMo and he said they were expecting 5 cases. Told me to call him this Wednesday and he said they didn't receive any and won't be for some odd reason. Another BevMo was expecting 6 cases and only received 2 but that guy said he has no idea what they'll get from Alpine because what they get just randomly shows up and never how much they expect.

Interesting. I thought this was going to be like the Nelson/Duet/HB bottles, and be everywhere?

Pure Hoppiness six packs at Alpine are $17, so you save $1 over buying 3 bombers.

I noticed this was posted on the 30th.

We’re traveling to SD from the Midwest for Beer Week and are a little confused: Were the Pure Hoppiness bombers and/or 12-oz bottles currently for sale brewed up the hill, or were they produced at GF like Nelson, Duet and HB?

If this batch of PH is also from GF, are any bombers of Alpine’s various IPAs still being brewed at the original facility? Or are growler fills the only way to enjoy the traditional magic at this point?

    Thanks for the help!
