I'm so angry that New Glarus did this Great Taste weekend! The locals had no chance at all to secure bottles with the roaming horde of rabid beer nerds overtaking New Glarus all weekend!

::hugs bottles, cases of New Glarus, and merchandise far away in Illinois::

$$$ is $$$ no matter what state you live in. NG gets paid either way.

I'm pretty excited that we were able to check out New Glarus and the release. I'm driving home happy with 8 sours and a case each of Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart. Hitting breweries the whole way home to Boston. Thanks to everyone that was so cool in WI. Awesome state and awesome people.

Got my 2 bottles. Some Belgian Red and Raspberry tart. Along with some other tasty things. I do love NG. It is also the cleanest brewery I have ever been to.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the brewing facility. The BA who photographs breweries needs to take a visit there I think.

LOLOL! Good catch. I tend to think of FFF as a Chicago-area brewery, even though it's on the other side of the border.

    One more try:

IL: F%@& you guys, we're showing up to all of your state's release events before you do. Feel free to hang out with us, but don't expect us to remember your names later; we were drinking in line before you rolled out of bed.

Lol, I couldn't like this enough. We're like a militia growing out of the Midwest, becoming stronger and more organized. In addition to invading WI, we also sent some agents to the West coast this weekend, and when they get back, we're all going to share the spoils. :sunglasses:

I gotta say, watching everything unfold, I thought it was a tad shady to go all 4 days and nab as much as they could BUT after going to the brewery yesterday, getting there pretty early and seeing there was hardly anyone there and then walking in to see how much they actually had, I turned to my gf and said "if the locals miss out on this over 4 days, they have no one to blame but themselves." Honestly, the small amount of people that left the weekend with more than 2 bottles would barely make a dent in what was available per day. I got my 2, I'm happy and after its all said and done, if those people wanted to dedicate the 4 days to getting this stuff, more power to them. If the locals are mad they didn't get any, you had 4 days and they had plenty of product.

Well, for whatever it's worth, my bro' and I drove to New Glarus with one other fellow on Friday. We walked right in , grabbed our two bottles each, walked up to the counter, paid and that was that. There were tons of folks there but there was plenty of the Sour on the shelves. No lines, no waiting. Yes, we were in town for the G.Taste and are from WI but I'm guessing we drove farther than our IL brethren. Moral of the story, to echo a bit of what xsists is saying, if 'locals' wanted this beer it would have been easy enough to get it. No worries.

False. I was there when NG closed at 4pm yesterday and there was still a shelf-plus of beer. There was definitely still some on shelves for today. not sure if it's gone by now though

Why? Granted I only visited twice (I went on Thursday at 1:30PM while moving out of my Chicago/Madison apartments and into Green Bay and again Sunday at 3:50 PM on way back to Chicago from Great Taste). After I got my bottles on Thursday I asked if it was okay to come back for more on a different day and everyone in the store said that that was okay and no one said or event hinted an air of "oh boo, save some for others." The idea was to have a steady supply throughout the weekend for anyone who wanted to come to get from what I can tell. If you wanted to keep on driving to NG, more power to you. Like I said, when NG closed on Sunday, there was still a shelf-plus of R&D left. That means there was plenty available during the four day release period, and even some to spare. This is not a year round beer. Was there this much complaint about the Beat runners who kept traveling back and forth to RR to get their allotment each day there was still some available?

FWIW, I am sending my spare bottles to friends, and I'm opening a bottle at my "going away" tasting this weekend. I guess I am greedy.

This was the pic of the R&D shelf I took at closing yesterday. There were some stray bottles on the top shelf of the other side of the shelf thingy too:
