And to think that I have actually been drinking only real coffee in the morning these past few weekends. The thought alone makes me sick. Today looks to be a beauty, but with it being football season how could it not be. Have a great one. Cheers.

Ok so you all have been seeking the perfect hoppy lager. I found it. I did not expect to find it . I wasn't even looking for it. But this is it. Stand back!

This measley score is worth more than all the other scores I have given. Why? Age.

Pours lovely golden amber. Clear with a two finger head of uniform bubbles that fall slowly but do not leave much lace. A few stray bubbles float to the top. I went low in the smell category to show you that this beer is not to style. A dynamic and bold hop scent. Citrusy and spicy. A malt melanoidin scent underlies that. It has a substantial richness that is partially obscured by those hops. Taste is exciting and really good. taste is also very hoppy. Dynamic hops engage the palate and show off spice, and citrus but nowhere near IPA strength. The herbal qualities from these hops seem to sneak up on you. You might think that citrus has outdone them but it did not and the green taste of it is pretty substantial once you notice it. There is no pine or resin here. The malt is a crisp and clean grain with lots of richness that seems to sport these hops without too much to do about how citric they are. Finish is clean and a little bitter but the hops take the finish and resonate into the aftertaste lightly. I am thinking of all the hoppy lagers I have suffered through and this is not one of them. This is one of the best hoppy lagers I have had. Cheerful and whimsical.

Good morning BA, another relaxing Saturday morning.

Awesome Gose as always, only have 1 left now. Flavors of big tart cherry, lemon, lime, green apple, wheat, cracker, coriander, sea salt, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice fruity/acidic tart finish with balanced cherry and fruity yeast complexity; with balanced salinity and acidity in the mouthfeel as well. Can’t wait for spring so I can buy more of it.

New recipe is excellent! Flavors of lemon, pear, apple, apricot, coriander, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, cracker, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized spicy yeast/earthy hop bitter finish; with a good amount of dryness, and very smooth/ minimal warming ABV. Fairly similar flavor-wise to the old one, but it is much dryer/spicier on yeast and a bit more bitter on hop flavors. Glad I got a 6 pack, will definitely be keeping this in the rotation. Great tripel.

A fantastic DIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine; balanced by honey, light caramel, and toasted bready malts. Good sized pine/citrus rind bitter finish; with a smooth and sticky/resinous mouthfeel with a touch of slickness as well. Nice moderate dryness. Just all around awesome with tons of juicy Citra hop character.

2.5 year old bottle. WOW, just as insane as I remember it being the last time I had it(a couple years ago). Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted oats, dark bread, light smoke/char, light dark fruit/vanilla, and a touch of herbal hop earthiness. Balanced bittersweet roasted finish; with a huge full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel with some light-moderate slickness as well. Zero warming for the ABV after the finish. This has truly aged gracefully! I will definitely pick up more bottles this thanksgiving. I picked this up at a corner store near my parents house a year or two ago and it has been in my cellar ever since. They don't bottle date their stuff, but the bottle manufacture code on the bottom is in 2012; so I think 2.5 years is a fair estimate(combined with the fact that there is a ring of protein gunk in the bottle neck). Still stands as one of the best Russian Imperial Stouts I've ever had!

Thanks boys. It's great to be back. After a (mostly) sober October, I'm looking forward to a November I can't remember. Cheers to you.

    Announcement Time:

Yes, it's that time of year, fans of Turkeys!!! Saturday, November 21st will be (pre) Turkey Day here on WBAYDN.

@MUTINY and I were wondering when would be a good time to do another MST3K simulviewing, when the obvious answer creeped upon us and bashed us over the head. We're planning it for a Saturday, due to obvious family obligations many will have the following week, but I'm sure many of us will be in the spirit..

    But wait, there's more!

Thanks to a wonderful idea planted in my head by @cavedave , we will be combining it with a simultaneous Turkey Beer Tasting! That's right, get your worst beers ready, whether they be stale, infected, or just plain poorly conceived, and tell us all about it during the show.

Next Saturday we will be voting on a time and episode, weekend denizens. To keep things simple I am going to limit this one to two movies, both featuring the inimitable Donald Pleasance (I still have Halloween on the brain, I guess ).

#1- where he shares the bill with MEGAWEAPON, Warrior of the Lost World

    or

#2- alongside that guy from Aztechnologies, Puma Man

    See you all next week.
And now, the Damned's ode to watching B Movies on the tele-

Walked the dog, made breakfast, and going to start bringing the Christmas decorations up from the basement. I like to get a leg up on the decorating so the season can be stress free and full of beer and food. Happy weekend all!

A cold but clear morning with flat harsh light called for some iPhone filter magic. I've always been a big fan of Georgia 0'Keefe's work, so pardon the over the top contrast.

The label art made me think of this Aztec inspired song...

I found this female cover while searching for the Neil Young original.
I've heard of her before, but didn't know her music. I was pretty impressed so I looked into who she is.
Turns out she is from Waitsfield, VT... one of a handful of places you can buy Heady Topper.
