    Hey guys,

I'm going to visit Treehouse on the way back from VT for the first time next week. I only will be picking up cans and was wondering what type of wait to expect if I get in the can line right at the open. Is parking easy enough? Just wanting to figure out what the timetable might be. Thanks for the advice.

The can line, at open, can be long but i think you'll be in and out in under 30/35 minutes. If you get there about an hour after open, then u should be in and out in 5 minutes. Parking can be tricky, but there is a lot attendant (sometimes two) to tell you where to park. Also, there is a monthly thread for all things tree house, which is a nice thread to follow if you know you're going to be making the visit. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/tree-house-brewing-co-november-2015.349973/

TreeHouse was crazy last night. I did my typical plan of arriving @ 7:30. Usually I'm in and out in 15 minutes with cans and growlers. However, last night I could barely find a parking space and there was a line out into the lot. At 7:55 Dean announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen - the can line is finally inside the building!". Crazy!

I missed the Haze cans by 15 people, but at least I got growlers. As always, the crew handled the crowd well.

Loved my first experience at treehouse, wife and I got there about 25 minutes before open and had our cans and growlers in hand and back on the road by 610, not a terrible system at all. Meet some cool people in line, already looking forward to my next trip.

Also keep in mind Wednesday is can only and when I've gone there has been no line. Not sure if there is one right at open but those can only days have been a breeze when I've gone.

I think the past weeks there has been a line at opening but going like 90min after open is in/out in 5min

Great first trip to the Tree House yesterday. Got there about 10am and we were number 34 and 35. Cans of Julius, Bear and Eureka! and growlers of lots of goodness very efficiently and pleasantly. Good crew and good patrons both. Already polished a 2L of Julius and had a can of Bear. Excited to try Alter Ego and Haze and Double Shot....

Was there Wednesday for open (about 10 minutes before). The line was well outside the brewery, but only took about 35 minutes to get through. I think the line though was due to Julius, Alter Ego, Haze and Eureka all being available. Seemed that many people who had been before (I had not been) were surprised by the line.

Wednesdays have gotten significantly busier, especially at open. From what I have heard it slows down mid afternoon. Mid afternoon doesn't work with my schedule, its more towards lunch. Oh well. Still an easy way to get great cans of beer every week.

Does TH ever do Double Shot in cans? I might be speaking from dumbness, but out of the beer they brew, isn't double shot one of their more well-suited beers for cans (in the sense that it is a lot more ageable than hoppy blondes/PA's/IPA's and cans are more suited for not getting around to drinking/ageing longer than growlers)?

I'm sure he'll respond, but @DigitalNate has said in the past that he's reluctant to put I believe double shot specifically into cans for fear that people will age it. Tree House is all about drinking their beer as quickly as possible.

    @DigitalNate's thoughts are here.

Have changed my thinking on this a bit. Double Shot is a beautiful fresh beer, and should be kept cold. Bottles run the risk of triggering a cellaring mentality. Double Shot and Good Morning will not get better with age, especially at cellar temp. In my opinion Double Shot & Good Morning should be enjoyed as freshly as possible, regardless of format. They both evolve beautifully in the growler for a while, but they are, again in my opinion, at their very best < 6 weeks old. Beyond that the intense coffee no longer provides the proper balance to a super rich base beer. The beers still have merit, but it's like Jordan on the Wizards, ya know?

So... Double Shot in cans. :grimacing: Not sure about Good Morning just yet. Barrel Aged beers definitely still in bottles, along with mixed fermentation creations we've been working on.

Nate changed his mind from what he originally thought here:

We will bottle some of our beer.
Hopefully by late spring / early summer we will receive our bottling line. This means bottles of Double Shot, Double Shot variants, Good Morning, and Good Morning variants, among other things from the barrel program we will finally have room for. I am so excited!!

The reasoning makes perfect sense but between the convenience of getting in and out for cans and the general single-sitting drinkability of a can vs a big growler, it'll be disappointing if we never see DS in can format.

Agreed, I'd imagine TH could help dispel the idea of cellaring DS cans with the "drink fresh, drink this can now, this can will explode in six weeks, etc..." messagingregularly found on cans of hoppy beers these days. Either way, Double Shot is a ridiculous base beer.

On a separate note, I feel like someone needs to create a Double Shot punch card. Drink every variation released over a year long period and get Good Morning brownies or a cardboard cutout of Dean ringing the tip bell.

I understand the reasoning for not canning DS, but also feel like u can't control everything. If somebody decides to hold onto Julius cans for a year, there's nothing to stop them. Or, perhaps they could brew and can another imperial stout that is not coffee forward.

Folks, unless I am mistaken, the quote MarkJC posted above says that they ARE going to can double shot. They were going to bottle it, but now they are, at some point, going to can it.

treehouse bottles, drool. I'd like my fridge full of them as much as the next person - but kinda hope they keep limits low to start until they iron out production just like the cans so it isn't ww3. though it still may be haha.
