Not saying to shut the thread down; just seen threads shut down for less than what has been discussed here, and wouldn't be surprised...then again, my sarcasm is a means of wrongfully forecasting

It would appear that some of you folks are kind of new to this game. What you saw today is the norm for highly anticipated releases and one of reasons I've pretty much stopped going to hyped releases. This shit has been going on for YEARS. Either deal with it or stop going and drink some of the other great beer out there.
As for Street Green, really good beer. TreeHouse Green is miles better , just one beer geeks opinion.

Looking back, I guess my only real complaint is that 100 or fewer people got what Other Half said they were going to give people who showed up today, in order to give 600-700 people SOME beer. I'm glad lots of people go to try this beer, but this type of decision should have been made long before opening the can sales.

I showed up at 7:45 am because I knew i would be early enough to get the allotment of cans that was published on multiple platforms (500 mixed cases). It is a bit disappointing for them to tell people not to show up at 8:50 am because "cans will sell out with everyone who is already here" then with in an hour turn on a dime and basically decide "everyone who shows up today will get cans." I think everyone benefits when you make a decision and stick to it so people can make an informed decision either way. I don't feel "entitled" to the can limits they said were in effect for today or anything, I just may have made a different decision if they would have said something like "limits subject to change based on turnout" or "we expect to lower limits early." After lowering it once the night before I decided to show up earlier than originally planned, but if they had said "limits subject to change, I would have shown up even earlier to get the full allotment, or even brought my growlers to fill to make up the difference.

I understand your point and feel you're completely justified in having that opinion, but I disagree with you 100%

People showed up for OH beer and for most, there were no signs it was going to be like this. OH did what they could to help as many people as possible get beer. I would say that's the most important thing. A 4 pack down isn't going to ruin anybody's trip, no matter how far they've come from.

Why wait until Wednesday? It's on tap at the brewery this very minute and it tastes great.

No growler fills and no crowds or lines right now.

Liked your comment but you do realize the chances that NYPD busts skulls over weed to be pretty minimal right? Will neighbors get pissed? Sure maybe. It happens EVERYWHERE in NYC. In case you haven't noticed the mayor isn't cracking down on these things like past mayors do. Not saying its cool (it isn't) but unless people were blowing each other for beer on line I don't think it's going to effect the next OH release. It's immature yes. Frowned upon? By some. Illegal? Rarely enforced.

Agreed, it definitely didn't ruin my trip, I just would have done things differently with different info. I Could have shown up earlier to get the amount of cans I wanted, or shown up later to get the same amount I ended up getting without waking up at 5:45 am, or packed my growlers to get additional beer.

also lets be honest, there were plenty of signs, limit reduced night before, Street Green draft at OH kicking almost immediately, 300 people showing up at Trillium for their OH collar, buzz on all social media and BA saying it was definitely going to be a complete shit show, so people who said they didn't know this would happen clearly chose to ignore all the information about this release the was circulating.

If the goal was getting as many people the beer as possible, announce the 2 four pack limit before cans sales start / the night before, etc, not after less than an hour of can sales, after so few people go to get the published limit, and people were told "not to show up." that is all.

I was happy once they realized there was still a size able line they sold the last few hundred cans 1pp so that almost everyone got one. If not for that I wouldn't have been able to grab 1 at all. Now I need to try and trade for a few more, stay tuned for post lol.

One or two people standing on a street corner won't result in any NYPD busts. But 500 0r 600 people jammed into a neighborhood with some people smoking, others breaking open container laws, people illegally parking at McDonalds all adds up to something that will get the NYPD's attention and it should.

Everyone who works at OH livelihood is based on a successful, operational business. Beer geeks need to get over themselves with all the entitlement and crappy behavior. The last thing OH needs is their livelihood ruined by people who could give a crap about the brewery or people who work there. The majority of people probably stood in line, didn't do anything stupid, got their beer and went on their merry way, the others who don't are a big problem.

When you go to releases like this you need to know ahead of time that the limit can be lowered. Given a massive line that stretched around multiple blocks and line cutters it sounds like OH did an amazing job of making sure as many people as possible got beer.

Admittedly an OH homer, but the reason I am is not only do they make great beer, this brewery seems to do all the right things across the board.

I'm so confused...when you use drugs, it's called drug use...is it not?

And it is illegal...regardless of the fantasy world you're living in, the future legality of it has not standing in court.

Lol. It's not a high horse. It's just reality. Join the real world. It's not that hard.

haha a few bad apples smoking weed and drinking in line got this whole place riled up. when you get 500+ people together, there are going to be some misbehavin' folks. would def be a shame if they got OH into trouble, but i dont see any similar situation where this is completely avoided.

Well my 2 cents. I arrived at 730 left at 1045 with 3 of each i had 50 people in front of us. I was with 3 people, we bought food from McDonalds for the less fortunate guy walking the line (no he didn't mule just showed local respect) we drank a few good bottles in line we were calm and relaxed shared with a few people behind us and just enjoyed beer while waiting in line we put the empty bottles in the trash. the weed smell irritated me a bit because that's not right but to each his own. End of the day If you got there early enough you would get the beer. Don't bitch about people calmly drinking in line, if people were treating the line like a frat party then fuck em but just because you got 2 of each doesn't mean you need to complain the store next door sells lube

Review- a few people cut us in line people smoke weed and propel drank in line. If you wanted it enough you got it

Right, I love OH, I'm a huge fan, this was my 4th can release (coming from NJ), and I'll be going to another release again very soon, so I have no Ill will toward them at all, but all i'm saying is that the information needs to reflect the actual release. If they ever said "limits subject to change" or "limits may be lowered if turnout is high" I could live with that, I would have planned accordingly. But the fact that they have never lowered limits the day of a release, and never made it sound like that was a possibility, made me believe that they wouldn't lower the limits here at 10:45, or at least get through half of their cans before lowering it, not lowering it after less than 20% of cans were sold.

I'm glad a lot of people got this beer, it is very, very good. but it also feels like OH decided to cater to all the people who decided to come to their first can release due to the hype or trade value or whatever, and who had no clue what was happening, over many of the people who came early and have been supporting them and will be back after the Trillium Collab is long gone.
