Right...because being in a line of 300+ people isn't going to attract attention.

Speaking as someone that was standing in line all morning, it's safe to say that about 95% of people driving or walking past the line were staring curiously.

    Welcome to Red Hook.

At every OH release, the passerbys are curious as to why so many people are standing in line, particularly standing in line for only beer, something they know to be available for much less than the prices quoted by said line standers.

You're being disingenuous. Other Half releases draw a crowd, but they've never drawn a crowd like today. To say that all releases garner this much attention isn't telling the whole truth.

I see people mentioning hop showers and simcoe next. Is that confirmed?

+1 on all this. I do feel bad for the folks on the "bubble" who got the lower limits though. This release was an anomaly so things should be back to normal next time. Saw plenty of regulars in line before me but they were those that generally get there early anyway (9am'ers on normal releases). Wasn't just out of towners. We just prefer to front load our wait time. Usually that's not necessary but people shoulda known better based on the popularity of the Trillium release.

False, you're making it clear you've been to few OH releases and are mostly unfamiliar with the neighborhood.

I don't disagree that the crowd was bigger, but at every single one of these the locals stop to ask what's going on. Everybody driving down centre stops and rolls down the window to ask what's happening.

Violating open container laws in public isn't a HUGE deal. Being a jackass while violating open container laws is. I'm not condoning violations, only acknowledging there's a difference.

Sorry to call you out on this @joeyfeets but you had friends get in line with you that came later in the day and you thought nothing of it or not being courteous to others that were there way longer before them. And then you say, "I do feel bad for the folks on the "bubble" who got the lower limits though." SMH

I generally don't like to put peoples business out there but since the butthurt is real, i'll let you know that they were let in pre-open to pick up kegs for their bars in LI. They could have gotten their cans at that time but wanted to wait it out with me as we all were going to a secondary spot afterward. So them actually moving back to roll in with me didn't technically put anybody out. I appreciate you keeping tabs on me though lol.

Still no excuse for the line cutting. That's cool that you guys wanted to meet up to go to another spot together at the same time but that's not a valid reason to do it, not fair for people that got there way ahead of them. They should of arrived when you did.

Biggest disappointment in this release aside from some of the aforementioned issues is the beer itself. Simply not worth it. At all. I'd rather have almost all of the other regular OH (or Trillium) beers. Street Green has an obvious influence of both breweries but those influences are muddled with each other and the end result is the beer is disappointing relative to the wait in line.

We'll just have to agree to disagree if you consider bars being told by OH pickup your stuff pre-open as "line cutting". Unsure if you're missing the point that they didn't need to wait in line. The big bald guy with the Croxleys shirt actually is a bar manager for them (not just a rando wearing their gear). My other buddy was there to help him load. They were actually inside the OH facility about 0915 grabbing kegs for the LI locations (that's why they left for about 20 minutes).

I could see how someone on the outside would maybe think they just left for McDonalds or something. All you had to do was ask if you felt some type of way about the situation. We could have explained it to you & probably would have invited you to join us afterward for a brew. Maybe next time.

Ok i get that they picked up the kegs, that's find and dandy. But if they wanted cans, get back to the line. And there was a third person that I know for certain had nothing to do with any of that. Furthermore, respect the brewery. Popping bottles like Drake was uncalled for. Especially right close to the business.

We just don't see eye to eye on any of this man but next time speak up instead of waiting until you get home behind your keyboard. I know the third guy you're speaking of & I would have taken care of that on the spot. I have no defense for that one, that's my bad. I could go into another story about the bottles & how half of em wind up in OHs hands but I'm gonna try to let the purse slapping die out & not fill the thread with this. Sorry that we upset you.

I don't think that's fair to say at all that those in line early were the 'regulars'. If anything, I'd think it would be the opposite - the regulars are used to seeing cans available at least into the afternoon. But at any rate, let's not sort people into being more 'deserving' of cans of beer than others. Everyone knew precisely what was going on - they wanted good beer from a brewery with a reputation for brewing good beer. Lowering limits was the right thing to do - even if it wasn't announced in advance - more people getting beer is usually a good thing, and today was no exception.

Why don't you read the beginning of this forum. Here's a refresher "Outside Beer: Do not open bottles or cans in the Tap Room unless you have permission from the Other Half crew. Do not drink while waiting outside on line for releases. The sidewalk is NYC property and you can get a open container ticket."
Need I say more, and I go to OH on releases so if i see you I'll say something about it. Don't try to come at me saying I'm defending myself behind the keyboard. Wasn't going to say anything at all but for you and your peeps that broke the rules shouldn't even comment on this thread. I said my peace, enjoy your "Street Green"
