I just had the privilege of trying this amazing beer this weekend at the Great Taste of the Midwest and was wondering if anyone had any information about it such as frequency it is brewed (was it a one-off or is it a seasonal), was it ever bottled, WILL I EVER GET TO TRY IT AGAIN!, etc.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers!

I had it on tap last Friday and it was friggin awesome!! The staff told me the barrels they are using to age it but for the life of me, I can't remember. It's bourbon barrel aged for one year. When TG opens its new facility, Mornin Delight will be more of a regular. It's never been bottled but it will be. Right now it's tap only and there is no frequency. It's there when it's there, luck of the tap.

Thank you for trying our Mornin' Delight everyone! Here is the scooby on that beer. It begins it's journey as Norseman's Wrath, which is our giant Imperial Stout made specifically to serve AND to be sent on a journey to become our Assassin by barrel aging for one year. We set aside a good amount of Norseman's Wrath to top off the barrels through out the year as the angels devilishly take more than their share. Once we know we have enough saved to get the barrels through to the annual Assassin bottling, we take the extra, non-barrel aged Norseman's Wrath and torture it into behavior and you get Morning Delight. We do this a couple times a year. We currently have some Mornin' D in our taproom and will look forward to the day when we can produce enough of it to bottle it for you. Our final trick is taking the some left over Assassin after bottling, and sending it on the same path as Mornin' D, then it becomes our Kentucky Brunch, which in my opinion is worth trying!

Hope this helps! And thank you for trying our little breweries giant beers! Prost!

    Hey guys,
This is Mike, head brewer at TG. Mornin' Delight will definitely return (it's on at our taproom right now) and it will eventually be bottled. This beer is not barrel aged, but our Kentucky Brunch is essentially Barrel Aged Mornin' Delight. Assassin is our BA Imperial Stout and spends over a year in barrels before blending. Last years Assassin was all Templeton Rye barrels but the upcoming version is also being aged in 12 and 20 year bourbon barrels and Old Fitzgerald barrels. Hope that helps!

Mike and Clark, I'd like to personally thank you for creating this amazing beer. I've said it a few times already, but I've never had anything like it before (and I've had quite a few before ). It was absolutely amazing and the highlight of the weekend for me. The day you start bottling it is the day I drive my ass to Decorah, Iowa!

On a side note. Will Dextor's pub in Madison now be carying Toppling Goliath beer year round or was it just a temporary thing surrounding the Great Taste?

This was one of my few disappointments at the Great Taste...as Mornin' Delight was gone by the time I arrived at the TG booth. Oh well. Provides me with an excuse to visit the great state of Iowa!

Yes, we will be at Dexters as long as they will have us. When we bottle we will send that out as well! We really appreciate all feedback and opinions. As a small brewery we hope to continue to make some exceptional creations small in batch size, huge in flavor!

Mike and our team are such great people to work with. We all love barrel aging and creating! Our Imperial Stout program was created by Mike, as was the Mornin' D recipe with Bob and Ed close by. Cheers to him, Bob, Ed, Nick and Chad - overworked brewers with heart!

So is all your stuff just on tap for now? Are you saying when you do eventually bottle, you plan to distribute in Wisconsin? Finally, it sounds like when you do start to bottle, Morning' Delight will, at a minimum, be a recurring brew (I'd vote to at least make it a seasonal, wait, no year round!)

Yup, all of our beer is draft only for now. We bottled a few times in extremely small quantities, but bottling won't really begin until the beginning of next year when our bottler arrives. We're pretty excited about the bottler, it's the same one Russian River, AleSmith, and Marble use (among many other great breweries). It's hard to say how often Mornin' Delight will be around, but it will definitely be recurring.

    Cheers!

I'm all for growing but hopefully the cedar rapids area stays stocked when you bottle!

I have to be perfectly honest, I am starting to get a tad alienated that other states are getting TG, and here in the Quad Cities we are still dry. I have talked up TG at every chance I get and believe in what they are doing and am proud that I finally have a brewery in Iowa of this quality, but it is a bit disheartening to hear about the beer going to Milwaukee and Madison and Minnesota.

I do not blame the brewery, I know that beer distribution is its own monster. Nonetheless, I still yearn for the day that I can order an Iowa beer at a local restaurant that I really enjoy.
