"If you just opened Ron's Donut Shop and spewed your homophobic views, there wouldn't be an issue."
    Disagree.
Not to go too far off-beer-topic, but I think it's funny that the whole article focuses so hard on the hypocrisy of the branding. Like LGBT advocates should be thrilled to support an anti-gay donut shop as long as said shop doesn't hide its shitty views. Pretty sure I wouldn't be more likely to buy donuts there if they changed their name to Hateful Holes: Homophobic Donuts.

I'd say at worst "solid" is a meaningless bro term, whereas "cardboard oxidized mess of meh overrated garbage juice" implies that you know what youre talking about.

When used to review beers on this site, terms like solid, meh etc. aren't very helpful, but honestly don't pay too close of attention to review on BA in the first place. The more beer that I drink the less likely I am to honestly care what the reviews are. Thus, I don't care about the terms they use (no matter how lazy they may be)

If they are used on a ticking app I don't care at all what they write.

Those doughnuts are awesome, too. Apparently they are crafted with hatred and sprinkled with bigotry. I don't get why any business owner would take a public stance on anything.

THIS. Just doing so is opening up a giant can of worms. I even had to scratch my head when I saw BG was doing a Democratic Debate Watch Party. Not that I personally care one way or another but someone might. It's a fine line you gotta walk.

I like to write "yummy" on Untappd for my check ins so that everyone knows that it is pretty solid.

You can only write reviews if you have the vernacular of an English Lit. major. You can only use pretentious descriptors such as "the water of a 4 month old, newly developed stream"

The main reasons I plan to open my own business one day is to tell customers when they are being assholes, play the music that I want, and if I want to watch the democratic national debate and people don't want to visit anymore I will at least know I did what I thought was right and the lost customers can go fuck themselves and I don't want them representing my brand.

I guess what I'm saying is that if I've spent the time to build up my business and it is successful, I would do what I wanted just like Al does.

I agree. No matter how long a business has been open, I think they should do and say as they feel (obviously within the context of the law). But we as consumers also have the right and ability to make our spending decisions with these outward opinions at the forefront. There are several places that I will not go to no matter how cheap or exclusive a product may be (and I am not talking just beer) because of how they choose to treat me as a customer.

We also have the right/ability to come on to an internet forum and bitch about it as well!

Edit: Is coming to an internet forum and complaining about a business the most effective use of ones time? That is debatable, and I personally feel that directly reaching out to the business in question, as the best solution.

I simply ask bc Draai Laag not being mentioned with local breweries using Brett seems like a healthy slight, especially from your extensive knowledge on the product and how much funk is in the beer/s. Just surprised.

Political debates aren't only appealing for people who belong to that political party. I had several very democratic friends excited to watch the republican debates. They're for anyone who derives entertainment from watching adults in expensive suits bicker childishly on national television.

I wasn't speaking about beers containing Brett as much as I was speaking about saisons. Not a a lot of local or imported bottled saisons around especially not a lot that contain Brett or any sort of mixed fermentation. I don't think Draai Laag bottles a saison, they have one they call a farmhouse ale that is much more of a triple but that's about it. I did have a "saison" on draft there once but it wasn't anything to write home about.

We do not have casks nights anymore unfortunately, after a year it never really caught on. Someday I hope to have a legit cask cellar and hand pumps.
