It's very doable. Traffic should be going the opposite direction in the AM. Uber it and have them stay while you shop for bottles and return back to terminal. But it will take a bit longer getting with traffic. Expect 5-10 minute more than going. Don't forget the traffic inside LAX circle.

What airline makes a difference too. United/American can be a complete shit show to get through security, but the smaller ones you will glide right through.

I know the city recently voted to allow uber to pickup passengers at LAX...but has that law change actually gone into effect yet? Not to long ago I had to walk out of the LAX traffic circle to actually get an Uber.

Not sure if it's in effect yet. But if anything you could catch one of the car rental shuttle buses to their place and catch a uber from there. Might want to check with Uber on the LAX pickup.

As of the last weekend in August it wasn't allowed yet.

You can just take the first free hotel shuttle out of the airport and have the uber pick you up at that hotel. I think most of them are closer to the airport than the car places.

Thanks for the heads up, flying with Delta. I haven't been though LAX in years.

Was planning on just jetting through the aisles and browsing for stuff we don't have on Maui (IPA/APA/sour). Would be stoked to find anything RR but its seems like they don't stick around long.

Looks like my window is getting tighter and tighter if I have to hustle to find a uber pick up/drop off point off LAX. I'm guessing if it's anything like Hawaii, cabs are straight ripoffs. I'll be loading up at my final destination so no biggie if its not worth the stress. I'll let my spidey-senses decide when I get there.

Thanks for all the tips tho (playas?).

There is a $25 surcharge for any cab leaving the airport. Definitely worth taking the free hotel shuttle out to the first hotel and having an Uber pick you up there.

Robert's Market in Westchester.. right down the street from LAX and a couple of blocks from Three Weavers Brewery

    5477 W. Manchester Blvd.

I work at LAX as well and this is definitely my go to spot. Great bottle selection

Flying in to LAX, renting a car and driving to Palm Desert on Wednesday.

Is Robert's Market a good bottle shop to stop at or is there another place I should go to that is on the way to Palm Desert? Any information is appreciated.

Palm Desert is enough of a drive, it wouldn't hurt you to go out of your way to get to a bottle shop in LA that has better selections. Not that I am an expert, but I assume that the further away you get from LA, the more limited your options will be. I would take a side trip to Beverage Warehouse near LAX, then on my drive out you could swing by Vendome BH, Sunset Beer Co, or Ramirez, that would be about 10-15 minutes of a detour each. Then it is just praying you don't sit in traffic for hours, depending on what time you are landing.

I dunno 10-15 minutes of a detour for each is highly impossible IMO. This is LA you're talking about.

Yea, don't forget about traffic heading out of the LA area. Depending on the time of day. I would hit up Beverge Warehouse or Whole Foods El Segundo, grab some bottles and head to Palm Desert.

Afternoon traffic here starts after 2. By the time you get your bags and rental car it'll be 1ish. Drive the 2 miles south on Sepulveda to WFs. Get your bottles and hit the freeway.

There's also a Total Wine in Palm Desert if you need a backup option once you're out there.
