Yeah, in Arizona. Hoping that distribution pipeline brings 'em flowing soon. As it were, I love that SD gas stations/random convenience stores/etc are usually dripping w/ local craft stuff.

Back in Feb of this year I actually found regular monsters park sitting in a fridge at an AMPM. That feeling when I went in for some "terrible for me" nachos and am treated with a nice beer too.

    That's the dream, man. I have a dream...that one day...all men...will be able to walk into a gas station...and buy a hot dog...and four-packs of Parabola...I have a dream.

How about "proxy at a price"?

Proxies are allowed, but only if they haven't purchased bottles.

    Boom!

As someone that proxies alesmith a lot I would hate this....but as a gamer 1000xYES. There should be risk/reward for everything.

How about a single use password code that you can get if you go to brewery before the release. Give locals a hour window to purchase bottles with the code and after that it is open to everyone including proxies.

Or how about you have more bottles available the day before lottery pickups at the brewpub? Oh, right....

There are "locals", and there are "regulars". The latter already have a VIP password.

Another option is to only allow 1-2 bottles per person but I dont think many of us would like that option.

I'd be fine with a two bottle limit. But I would rather they get rid of proxies before reducing the limits.

You do realize that AleSmith no matter what they do will still upset people with their decision? It's a limited release some people are going to get shut out, no matter how many obstacles you put out there.

Exactly. Cant make everyone happy. Every limited bottle release by any brewery someone will be unhappy they didn't get bottles. At least with Alesmith they constantly have bottle releases. If you didnt get this one there will probably be another next month of something else that is great.

But...what if we are both? I am so confused. I have no idea which group I should place myself into....ahhhhhhhhhhh.

BRB going to alesmith to ponder this decision over whatever speedways are leftover.

Alesmith has taken a step in the right direction. They have limited proxies to 1 or 2. I am kind of ok with that. I just hate when 1 guy proxies for 30 people and leaves with cases of the beer.

Local: you live close enough to San Diego (or travel there regularly) that there is a reasonable expectation of making it to the brewery during the pickup window.

Regular: you, me (when I lived there), Xul, etc.

Uh... how is your second statement about BPT not being able to handle it NOT proving that the Proxy situation is the problem here?

You take away the range of people pinging the website from ALL of the country and just put it down to regionally local part of the country and you solved the issue of BPT not being able to handle it.

And even if you limited it to 1-2 bottles, that still means that the same amount of IP's will be hitting the website and causing it to crash. The simple solution is to remove proxies on things that will already sell out fast anyway. Their NON-SS beers they put up on BPT are the slow movers. Use proxies for that. But you don't need to proxy sell speedway variants.

And a lotto won't help at all either as it will just create a more complicated system for alesmith to execute and probably leave a lot more bottles than expected sitting unsold. In short, lotto's aren't really the best solution, as you can see Kern constantly have second chance sales that just repeat the mess once more. That's not the solution for alesmith.
