I feel like we had more release information at this point last year. I guess this isn't going to be a Foodery exclusive again like last year in Philly?

That practice is highly illegal in NJ, and you shouldn't allow it to continue. ABC law prohibits the forced sale of alcoholic products in order to be able to buy something else or be given a give away. Stores that did that with KBS and BS did it because they were dumb enough to buy mountains of cases of BS in order to get a single case of KBS. Which they bought in at a super reduced price and then sold you the BS for SRP. Which was just as messed up. They also sat on those cases of BS until August, probably even into September, and ended up sending the cases back to the distributor. It's not a way any store should run their beer department and expect to keep customers, or expect not to get fined by ABC.

Also, all the information I've gotten about what's coming to NJ is everything but Rare. So good luck getting that.

I've stopped shopping at that store and took my business elsewhere. Some others I know have also stopped. I've also found many an old 4 of 6 pack of IPAs there. As for the whole practice, I'm sure other stores do it and hopefully they get caught and it's addressed.

Visited my cousin in NYC last year and just for shits & giggles went to Top Hops around 9am and the line was still insane... went to a coffee shop and relaxed in the warmth with some breakfast, walked back over a little later and there were only like 5 people still in line, popped in line, got 4 pack of regular, and 4 of the barelywine as did the wife, walked out got back in another short line to sample the rarer drafts.... good times... unless your searching for the rarer bottles, dont fall for the hype, last year it seemed as though there was an unlimited supply there, no need to wait in the cold all day.

I went to Top Hops several days later and walked out with multiple four packs of BCBS and Barleywine. They still had everything on draft that they started with, but they were only pouring ~4oz glasses.

That explains the huge stacks of FBS I saw all over, for months. Kind of like the Grapefruit Sculpin I'm still seeing.

Gary's in Wayne is a great shop. Stew Leonards in Clifton, too.

Sister will be in OH with me on Black Friday, but back in Manhattan / Queens the Monday after. Seems BCBS, BCBBW and even Coffee arent too difficult to nail down? Anyone have experience getting these with Astoria Beer and Cheese? Closest shop to her place.

Sounds like Top Hops would have some a few days after as well?

Last year Astoria Beer and Cheese had regular BCBS for at least a month , maybe two, past the release.

It's so much easier to just be a loyal customer at a local shop and not have to wait in line for them. I was told to come in the following Monday and pick up my bottles.

Also, Rare will be $65.00 give or take retail per bottle from what the local shops have said here.

Just checking back in because it seems as though my post was overlooked earlier in this thread.

I'm going to be in Yonkers, NY for black friday (visiting family). I haven't ever had to shop for beer up there, and I'm wondering if anyone knows a spot in that area that will be selling BCBS on Fri, because it is unlikely that I will be able to make it into the city until late on Fri (presumably after all of the variants are long gone).

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Unless your state has arcane beer laws with a ABV cap of 12%. :slight_frown:

Last year GI did a pre-release tap take over at 3 NYC bars. They never specifically called out the bars but rather gave little clues for us to figure out. This all took place on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Does anyone know if they will be doing this again?

Awesome, that's where I went last year. Must have missed the notice on that one. Thanks.
