Yeah, went looking for Purple Prose in the city today. Struck out at a couple of spots, but did find a last bottle of Double Negative sitting around....

Hopefully Grimm continues to ramp up batch sizes like they're doing with the upcoming batch of Tesseract. Can't get enough of their beers.

Any sightings of Purple Prose at any of the Manhattan Whole Foods?

Off topic for the thread but--Mekelbergs has been such a nice addition to the neighborhood.

They are great but tbh they did a resoundingly bad job at promoting that dinner. I know the bartenders over there and even expressed interest in the event before it had a date (when mentioned to me), but don't see anything besides a couple food pics day-of posted on their social media and that's about it. Don't even see any pre-mention of it in the thread here. Kind of a bummer, oh well. Not the end of the world.

Yeah I know you're right because I don't even know what dinner you're talking about. So I'm assuming they did a Grimm night with food pairings? That would have been nice to walk over for...

I was at the dinner (which was really nice - both Grimms were awesome and went above and beyond the call of duty in terms of milling around and talking with everyone). I think perhaps partially because it was the first time Mekelbergs has done that type of event it was really small - only 10 people total, and I'm guessing the tickets moved fairly quickly, which is probably why the promotion was effectively nonexistent. They mentioned they'd like to set up more of this type of event in the future with other breweries, so this may have been a test run of sorts.

Well right on time--Mekelburgs just tapped 3 different Grimm sours, so we're right back on topic now (Rainbow Dome, Purple Prose, Super Sym)

they did tremendous food pairings. the dinner sold out really quickly with no promotion so we didn't post it anywhere either... what's the point of being a tease. But god damn those short ribs they made! We were their first ever beer dinner, so they wanted to keep it small. Next time, they plan to offer more tickets.

I really like Mekelburgs -- they have assembled a whole crew of passionate people. Quality on all fronts.

I think I prefer the chase than a 6 hour wait TBH.

I dunno, honestly there is something kind of nice about knowing a beer is being distributed and where to line up/what time. The chase is more stressful because its all about timing when the delivery gets in. If you planned the OH release right and paid attention to anything at all, you would have known to line up early and gotten your cans.

I believe this batch of Tesseract is larger than Afterimage and Pulse Wave. Maybe it will last a little longer in stores and not be so hard to get... probably just wishful thinking by me

I got my street green cans, I was there at 8:30. I also scored quite a few more Pulse Wave cans because I'm more mobile (bike) and tenacious. I think each distribution method has it's pros/cons.

For certain personalities there are comforts in knowing when and where a beer is being distro'd. I'm not a huge fan of punctuality and waiting so, like I said, I prefer Grimm's distro method. To each their own.
