Yeah I hear you there. I skipped the madness on Saturday because I wasn't willing to put myself through that.

I don't blame you, I'm never doing that again.

I hope it's not that crazy when Grimm finally gets it's brewery but I think it might.

I think I agree with this - I normally hate to wait. Saturday was an exception - I was all set to wait but turned got right back on the subway at 9am and headed home when I saw OH's tweet that if you weren't in line you probably wouldn't get any. Turns out paying attention hurt me - I would have gotten 8 cans if I hadn't seen the tweet.

Another nice thing about the Grimm releases are that they hit draft around the city in much higher amounts than most OH releases. Even if I miss out on cans it's easy to find on draft and get a few pours. Plus, with Tesseract at least, I've had it several times before and we know they'll almost definitely brew it again.

It was rough, i was there for a lil over 4 hours... But again I dont think OH had any idea that would happen.

How could they not? Nobody on staff pays any attention to craft beer social media?

i don't think many people, brewery included, expect that sort of line. i for sure did not come expecting to leave at 12:45, when i got there at 8:30.

A line around the block? No way. Those of us that regularly go to the releases didnt expect it that for sure.

The OH thread has covered this topic quite a bit but I just have to say-- Trillium's release of the Trillium/OH collab was on a Monday afternoon (I think about a week notice but I may be wrong) and produced an incredible line that called for limits to be lowered to address the huge crowd--yes Monday afternoon when most neckbeards should be at work.
The OH/Trill can release had 3 weeks notice, on a Saturday...that's a recipe for an insane line. I'm not surprised in the least bit, not sure why OH or anyone else couldn't see that coming. Not blaming or commenting on the way it was handled, but not sure how anyone couldn't see this coming. Back to Grimm stuff...

Cracked open purple prose last night, very interesting beer. Really, really bitter on the back.

yes! in a nod to certain lambic producers like oud beersel, we used a huge dose of aged hops. It's effectively 0 IBUS because there aren't any alpha acids left in these hops; but they still contribute tons of tannins and beta acids. Then the oak and blackcurrants add even more tannins. It makes the finish really long. First time we've done a beer this way (and we love it). It's tannic like a cabernet but with low abv.

Thanks for the response! I love that y'all are active in this thread

It was by far one of the most unique sours I've had and probably the most unique Grimm beer, imo. I'm excited for the upcoming releases!

The gripes about getting Grimm beer are plenty in this thread, but I experienced something new when I picked up Purple Prose. The guy at the grocery store said that he would only sell it to me if I bought a bunch of other stuff. Kind of odd for a grocery store, or any retailer for that matter. They had a decent selection, so it wasn't a huge deal to pick up a few extra bottles, but still a pretty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ situation.

I've tried that place two times, and both trips they "had no idea what I was talking about" despite being updated and available on Beermenus. Screw them.

Pirouette is one of the best new beers I've had this year. Beautifully juicy stone fruit sour.

Fantastic lineup overall, too. Excited to hear how the new batch of BBA DN is.

Finally found a bottle of Purple Prose. FYI Top Hops has about 10 bottles in the cooler and maybe 5 on the display shelf.
