I'm going to give you credit for a great play on words regardless of intention.

I think their best beer was actually the Build and Destroy aged in a Scotch Barrel. From the story I was told I'm pretty sure it was a one off situation unless things have changed. I'm hoping that somehow they can repeat the magic again.

Man, tough crowd. Build & Destroy? Mr. Automatic? Mexican Coffee (though admittedly I wasn't as big a fan of this as many others seemed to be)?

You have to take into consideration that the poster in question can only judge what's been placed before him in bottles. He's not allowed out of his marital cage for long enough to trek to Braddock.

Of those three, I've only had Build and Destroy (from a growler, mind you!)...and I actually like it quite a bit...but it's a core offering. BG's one-off ratio of Saisons/IPAs to anything else is massively lopsided. Which is cool...that's their niche...

Here, I'll cut right to the chase...and this is not specific to BG at all...when is there going to be a local, readily available good barleywine??

Did you try Mr. Automatic? For a non-barreled, non-adjunct porter, it's as good as it gets imo. Better than Black Butte and along side Eddy Fitz.

But I agree with you. I really like barleywines (moreso than most seem to) and I'd really love to see someone consistently put our a good English (or otherwise non-hoppy) Barleywine. I enjoy stouts but less than a barleywine. Outside of Gratitude and B2 of Heini's Good Cheer, that's a glaring hole in the Pittsburgh market.

I'm a big barleywine fan too and there certainly is a lack in our market, even from the non locals. Weyerbacher insanity is always one I look forward too.

I agree, and would love to see more bourbon barrel stuff around in general, but I also realize it is tough for these new breweries to do because of space. I am just thankful for readily available Backwoods this time of year.

I did not get a chance to try Mr Automatic...wanted to though...

I'm also a barleywine junkie...American and English and can drink them year round. But they are definitely not a style that gets any attention around here...

I don't even need a BBA BW...just a really good, standard, boozy/warming barleywine for this time of year...

Did anyone try that Skeuo-Morph? Consensus?
Mr. Automatic is still on tap there.

Odd. Very apple-forward. Nearly like drinking apple juice. Good in a small pour. Hard to drink a whole bottle. Liked, didn't love.

I would imagine. Sounds like you were spot on with your prediction of available beers, @Preluderl

Nice. I wonder how they are going to run this in regards to crowd, line, etc.
