Notable Releases - DC/NOVA/MD

You might keep your eyes out for some Founders stuff and also Cigar City Jai Alai - both of which don't distribute in CA I believe. I know Westover Market has some Founders Backwoods Bastard and Breakfast Stout available and they also got some Jai Alai yesterday. I didn't check the canning date but that stuff is legit when fresh. They also have plenty of (overpriced) Avery barrel aged stuff like their sours and Beast.

Lost Dog North Arlington has some Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout I think, but it's also pretty expensive.

 

Thanks, actually Founders just starting distribution to northern CA in October, so I'm well stocked on FBS and Backwoods Bastard. I'm guessing Death by Coconut hit CA and has likely sold out since I've been gone so I'd like to get some while I'm here.

 

KBS is going to be on tap at lost dog Dunn Loring for whoever wants to make the hike out to the boonies

 

It was tapped last night. Probably will last through tonight though based on the crowd and the other offerings.

 

Coming in crazy late, but anyone know if Westover still has Pennsylvania Tuxedo (or if there are any other places that are carrying it? Preferably bottles). Been looking all over for this!!

 

Whole Foods in Arlington had it when I was their yesterday. I bet Dominion has some as well since they got it in yesterday.

 

Any idea if it will show up anywhere else in NoVa?

 

People post about the Perfect Pour in Elkridge, MD and TW in Sterling and they're not the boonies, but Dunn Loring on the Orange line is?

 

Total Wine in McLean had some when I was there earlier today. Don't remember the price, but likely cheaper than at Westover.

 

Dominion still has Death by Coconut. Looks like they had quite a bit.

 

Downtown Crown has 4 packs of Choklat for 8.99. One of the employees said he believes the county messed up on the pricing and so they are passing the savings on. It is definitely an unreal price for MoCo. They also have 8 Maids a Milking.

 

I've had Duet and Hoppy Birthday on tap now in MD and PA within last month, and honestly, if this is the Green Flash version that will be coming our way in bottles, I'll probably pass. MAYBE I'll try Nelson if I see it. The 2 I've had so far are really not that good at all. I was really excited with all the hype the last couple years hearing about Alpine out in CA, but I've found both them to be excessively bitter and not flavorful nor much hop aroma. Go in with low/moderate expectations and maybe you'll think its good. Just prepping you all.

 

Any one know if GBS is still at TJ Arlington? Want to stop off after work. Bottle limit?

 

Thanks guys, just picked up GBS and Big Bad Baptist at K1. Also had Founder Backwoods Bastard, FBS, and Old Curmudgeon but I'm leaving Saturday.

 

Does Ocelot have any plans to bottle/can?

 

I talked to one of the owners a month after they opened and he said only barrel aged stuff in bottles. Kind of outdated info so someone else will probably know better then me. I think the first thing they plan on bottling is their barrel aged barley wine.

 

They have been sitting on the keg since release. Unless somewhere else did the same thing probably not until next release in March.

 

UPDATE: Apple Brandy GBS also releasing on December 19th.

 

Its fake Alpine. I have had Duet in the bottle and Nelson and Hoppy Birthday on tap. They all underwhelm. It is a watered down Green Flash IPA with an Alpine label slapped on it. From what I am hearing, the real Alpine in CA tastes nothing like the bottles with the Alpine labels we are getting here.
