If you go to KRBC and only want to drink Citta you're missing out.

Yes. You are missing out. They have a lot of other great ipa's and beers on tap. My plan was to have 2 pints of Citra and then Think Tank, Shuttle Bunny and Dirty Hippie for the afternoon session. After dinner evening session will be simple…..Citra, Hop Nookie and Class X with desert-Class V Stout Brownie. Sunday-Citra and a glass of Shuttle Bunny, pick up Citra bottles and make the trek back home. A lot of great beers to chose from.

The fuck, are you seriously complaining that you have a 2 beer limit on Citra when there's shit like Class X or Hop Nookie on tap? Like. what the fuck is wrong with you?

think tank, gravity check, that porter, all great beers. enjoy your two pints, but by no means is it some "**** policy" you wanker.

Am I the only one who was looking forward to class x on tap more than Citra? I mean I went up to pick up my Citra bottles but I've been wanting to try class x for a while after seeing how good class v is.

Class X is a favorite of mine and I had hoped for years that they bottle it. Maybe with more room in the expansion they'll have the ability to barrel more of it. Cause that is some delicious stuff.

Class V is an excellent stout coming in at 8.5%, while Class X is 10%.

Looking forward to Class X again. But I have never had Think Tank.

Will be heading out on my trek to KRBC soon. If you're up there today, I'm the dude with shoulder length hair wearing a black t-shirt with my avatar on it. Probably sitting at the bar. Stop by and say hey.

Here now. Started with a Citra--good but more bitter than I remember. Had Class X next--disappointing. Thin, watery, flat. Decent flavor but the mouthfeel ruined it.

Currently working on a flight of Thunk Tank, Hop Nookie, Dirty Hippie, and Shuttle Bunny. All 4 are tasting great.

Citra DIPA is pretty bitter straight out the gate. I always enjoyed it more from the bottle maybe a week or two after bottling.

As for Class X, I only had it once from a tapping at Far Bar maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Your description echos my experience so I always wondered why folks would gush over it.

Personally my taste has changed over the last couple years, what blew me away then….not so much today and Citra is one of those beers. I had a fresh bottle of this batch today and found it almost one dimensional and like you said extremely bitter, none of that luscious tropical vibe that I can recall from past years. Of course it may have to do with the fact that I have been drinking more Trillium, Other Half and Tree House these days which IMHO have set the bar for tropical juicy IPA/DIPAs at a very high level that very few west coast brewers can match, but still that doesnt change the way these once must have west coast beers hit me. Don't know...... won the so called lottery last year, went up and had a blast in Kern but honestly I wasn't blown over with Citra, last year it seemed to malty and heavy for my palette and I then decided my Citra days were best left as tasty memories, the bottle from this release confirms that. I like KRBC, but not enough to seek it out anymore.

    Cheers…..

Had a great time as usual at krbc, staff is always top notch! Beers were great, but I'll be that guy... not the most amazing batch of citra. Still delicious, but missing that sticky dankiness. Also no cloudiness. Still worth the drive! Love krbc.

    agree with OTB.

Socalbeeriduot, Class X is always flat, yet delicious. And I realize we were sitting right across from you on the little riser bench by the stairs.

Has citra ever been that clear? I remember it as cloudy, murky. It was totally clear this time. Again...delicious, but not on par. Still one of the most enjoyable breweries to visit.

We love the crew at KRBC too. My recollection of the best Citra's were of a hazy murky orange color, this is a very clear amber hued beer.

    Cheers……...

I had it years ago at an SDBW event at Toronado and it was on nitro and delicious. I talked to either Eric or Kyle and they said they specifically put it on nitro since the body was thinner than they had hoped. I wonder why they don't do that at the pub.

Had a nice chat with Kyle last night. He made a change to his beers which makes them more clear. The change does not affect the flavor but only the look.

Had another great time yesterday at KRBC. Started off the afternoon session with 2 Citra's. Yes it was clearer than the Citra I had 5 weeks ago here. Tasted a little more boozier/maltier and less citrusy. But still delicious. Then had Think Tank. My first time for TT. A good pale ale. Then a taster of SB and finished off with another Citra. Walked back to motel and bbq'd steaks with potatoes and veggies and salad. Opened and shared a can of Crack Butt lager and Pure Hoppiness. I know it's the wrong thread but I thought GFs PH was good. Not ABC good/great. But it wasn't bad. Finished up dinner and walked back over to The brewery for round 2, evening session. Sat outside as the evening got cold fast. A glass of Citra, TT and finished off with a Class X paired with Class V Stout brownie w ice cream and chocolate syrup. It warmed up real quick. I was feeling a little more than good.
Note: I took pictures of Citra yesterday and from 5 weeks ago. Definitely different in appearance/taste. If I knew how to post pics here I would.

Round 3 in a couple of hours. Have a pour and pick up bottles and hit the road back to OC.
