Pittsburgh - New Beers & Local Breweries

Remind me the next time we're gonna meetup and I'll give you a '13.

 

The Urban Tap has Dogfish Head Higher Math on tap as of last night. 12oz pour was $12. Not giant eagle cheap but not as pricey as bottles at bottle shops!

 

Everybody will likely be chasing singles of BCBS all around the city and this -> Bourbon County thread (NJ PA NY) is going on at a singular location in NYC.

 

This is more in one place then Pittsburgh will see all together

 

Wow that would be nice to not have to plan a recon mission to get a few bottles. I've been wanting to try bcbcs for years now. Anyone let me know if you get/have an extra.

 

Pig Iron had Liquid Courage on today. Anyone else try this yet? With the amount of ball-washing both Fat Head's & Jackie O's get around these parts, I'n curious to hear some opinions.

A little off topic... if there is one... do you guys think Fat Heads will do a bottle release of IBUsive?

It's one of my favorite IPA's that they make. I know my friend in Philly, who isn't that much into beer, raves about it constantly.

 

You would have to go back and check my untapped check in but pretty sure I called it a malty ipa instead of a barleywine. Could be thinking of a different beer though

 

I hope so. But I've been hoping for that for a long ass time...

I think it's the best IPA that they make.

 

After seeing them do bottle releases for Hop Fro and Pimp My Sleigh, it gives me a little more hope. It seems like their production output is increasing.

Business Ethics

 

Earlier this year in January I was in NYC and they couldn't give BCBS away. Every bottle shop I went to had multiple cases and even had it on sale 5$ a bottle because they got so much in and were offering even more discount on multiple 4 packs purchased.

 

Nothing quite brings out the neckbearded hipster in BAs like BCBS.

 

That sounds about right. I thought it was really woody, like a tamer Arrogant Bastard, but without much flavor. Not really up to snuff for either of those contenders.

 

Yeah I tried it yesterday. Hoppy barleywine is a great way to put it. It won't fulfill the urges of those wanting a barleywine.

 

Every time I see you post about nyc I'm very confused about how I apparently ended up going to all the wrong places the whole time I was there. I bought a fair amount of BCBS there, but it was always like $25-30 / 4pack. Was happy just to get it so abundantly, but obviously would've preferred paying 25-33% less.
