I always take beer friends from out of town to the lord hobo/Cambridge brewing co/meadhall triad in Kendall square in Cambridge. Depending on your food interests, there a ton of phenomenal restaurants in that part of town too.

I also really like deep Elum and lone star (sister places next to each other). Smaller lists, but really well curated and both have awesome food. It isn't too far from sunset grill, which I think is a cool place to stop by for its novelty. How many places have hundreds of beers to try at any given moment? Food there is just standard wings, burgers, apps, and Mexican bar food that is nothing special, but may float your boat.

Trillium is really a must. I actually think both the Sam Adams and harpoon tours are fun too if you like the experience of tours and whatnot.

Mystic Ascendant is a really, really good hoppy biere de garde. Smells like peach. I hope they continue to brew it.

Trillium, Sunset Grille, and Lord Hobo. If you have the time and a car, drive out to Treehouse!

Try The Glenville Stops in Allston. It's more of a gastropub with great food but the 30+ taps will impress you. Some beers you can't find anywhere else in town. Nearby Sunset Grill and Deep Ellum are worth a shot too

Hey guys, great thread...might be headed to Boston in a few weeks. Regarding the beer bars, any of these remotely kid-friendly? at least during dinner or lunch hours? To help narrow it down, we'll be either staying in Back Bay or more downtown area near Boston Common. Thanks!

Picco! Amazing pizza, pasta, and ice cream and very kid-friendly (although if you go for dinner on the weekends there's often a wait). Great all-American craft tap list that is constantly changing. http://www.piccorestaurant.com/beer.html

Night Shift is very kid friendly as well, although dining options are limited to the food truck that's there the day you go, as well at whatever food you bring in (BYO food).

From my list above I would say Publick House, Tip Tap and Sunset are all fairly kid friendly at reasonable hours. I have seen kids at Aeronaut as well, and if you venture up to Union Square kids are ok in the restaurant side of the Independent.

If you're hitting Trillium its worth it to run next door to Row 34 as their tap list is always top notch plus the oysters are always a must.

I will be out there this Saturday - Wednesday. Any other places near Seaport Hotel that are walking distance besides Trillium/Row 34/Harpoon? Planning on taking an uber to Night Shift/Mystic one of the days. Also, any good spots to hit up on Halloween night? I saw Night Shift was having a party, but it's sold out.

There's a whole stretch of places right there, but they are kind of "clubby", which can be fun if that's your thing, but I'm guessing it's probably not. There are loads and loads of nice restaurants everywhere downtown now, and the Seaport area is a great place to start from, it's just a matter of what you're in the mood for. The North End and Chinatown aren't too far from there, either.
On Halloween, I tend to lock all the doors and avoid the roving drunken mobs if I can help it! It gets pretty hairy out there.

One essential Boston bar, Drink, is also located in Fort Point, on Congress St. It is a place for cocktails, not beer, but it is worth a visit ... I prefer off hours, as it can get insanely busy in there.

If I'm downtown, my go-to "casual cool" place is JM Curly. They make excellent cocktails, have a small but interesting beer selection and have incredible fried chicken. Gets crowded, though.

Party is sold out but we are open Halloween day from 12-6:30pm for the general public. So you can still stock up on all the adult candy you may need.

Any of the places mentioned have tvs that play football? Heading into the area with a friend who doesn't drink. Gotta keep him entertained while I get into some good brews.

Thanks to this thread I have a plan for some good beer and food when I head up for a night in December to see WWE at the TD Garden with some buds. So thanks.

We at Night Shift have one large projector screen that we show games on. Also have arcade games & table games to play to keep your buddy occupied as well.

I would also suggest Harpoon. The beer may not be up to the others, but the pretzel is outstanding and with community tables it is a fun place to hang out. And I believe they actually have some good beers.
