I get so much vanilla and oak out of this, it's awesome.

Ya'll southeastern PA folk are making me miss it! From West Chester, graduated high school in Delaware. Only have been back once in the past 5 years, but that was for a wedding at the Jersey shore. I know the Philly beer scene is great, but I haven't been able to experience it.

Got a case worth of the BB this year from a number of different locations. Absolutely great this year.
Thought that the 2014 BB was the best beer overally last year, and was slightly more balanced than this years - slightly (99 points vs. 94). Definitely more vanilla and more sweet this year, but still fantastic.

I would like to try this years but I was just priced out of it, $19.99/4. I just can't do that. I may find it as apart of a mix n match somewhere hopefully.

You know, I found it a little bit of a sticker shock at the $15 and $16 that I paid for my 2 4 packs but for $4 a bottle, I think it is worth it. In my opinion this is a beer that is right up there with the GI products if you like a Wee Heavy. Also when I think of all the times I pay $6 for a shit pint at a bar, I can justify it in my mind

Drinking it on tap. Pleasantly surprised. Thought last year was way too boozey fresh. This is drinking really nice.

So this is one of my favorite beers ever, but this year's was just super lacking in whiskey for me for some reason. "Fresh" 2015 tastes like 8 month+ aged 2014. Am I the only one?

Eagle has landed in Houston. Picked up 5 singles at Lake Jackson HEB @ $2.99 each. Cheaper price per beer than the 4-pack.

So glad we're getting Founders here in Texas, now. The Backwoods Bastard is here among several others, but I have yet to see KBS on the shelf.

Sticker shocks at $4 a bottle!?, $15 - 20 a 4 pack? If only you knew what it was like to live in Lancaster, PA!
Only thing good is at least I can get a case. $100 with tax though. One of the few case-worthy beers in my opinion.

I paid $15.16 at one store and $14.99 at another. Bottle shop owners jack the price to $18-20 because people will pay it. I choose not to give those stores my business.

If you ever find KBS on the shelf consider yourself lucky. There are usually lines waiting at the store when it is released
Hm, I cracked open a 2014 a couple of weeks ago and found that it had mellowed out a bit. The one I had last nite I thought had more of a prominent whiskey taste, but was more balanced and hid the ABV well
I am somewhat sticker shocked every time i buy beer that cost more that $4 a bottle, but that doesn't seem to slow me down or stop me.

your post is a lil dated but i imagine by now you figured out the store owner wasn't coo-coo? i snatched a box in S.F. back when the first shipment of Founders hit Northern CA (just before your post).

about 8 or so days back, at least 1 SF Whole Foods had more KBS - (one 4pk per) from what appears to be a re-up that came in with the more recent Backwoods shipment. note the date though, these are def. held over from the prior release last spring. i'm assuming they held stock in anticipation of entering CA/NV distro.

Yes that was before I'd heard of any CA sightings. What's funny is the poor guy never did get any KBS or backwoods bastard though he got some other Founders stuff. By the way is that a case of KBS you obtained there? I haven't personally seen it anywhere but at Bevmo in NorCal but obviously it's out there...I've never had much luck finding much of anything obscure at any WF. When I bought mine at Bevmo Antioch they had 28 four packs physically at their store but that was weeks ago.

the case came out of a corner store in the City, not Whole Foods. but a few days back SF Whole Foods had 4pks of KBS & i know for a fact more was/is in local distro. it's mostly being doled out strategically & won't be widespread.

fwiw, last weekend Whole Foods in Fremont had multiple cases worth of Backwoods 4pks, Breakfast & others lining the cooler. i bought a BW 4pk, $17.

Currently drinking my first bottle of this year's batch.

Amazing, as usual...but am I the only one getting really strong coconut flavors out of this this year?

I'm not getting coconut but it seems to me a little more bitter than last year. Last year, I noticed that after about nine months it started to get more bitter. I still have a couple of bottles of '14 and should compare them. Nonetheless, this is one of my all-time favorites!

Just had my first '15 yesterday. I definitely did taste a sort of chocatley coconutty thing going on. Not a bad thing, though, because it was delicious!

Admittedly haven't read through this whole thread, but have a question. Last year, there were stacks of cases sitting around Binny's in the Chicagoland area for weeks. This year, I haven't seen a single bottle anywhere. What's the deal?
