New to Ohio (2015)

Haha why the hate? I like Hoppin Frog. Granted I don't purchase often because of the price, but this seems a bit harsh...

 

Should be a good time.

San Marcos is awesome. We go there for lunch all the time.

 

Hoppin Frog should be the official beer of the Cleveland Browns. There are moments that surprise you, but in general they just let you down.

 

New to Ohio: Nitro White Apparition was delicious last night at the brewpub. It was a coffee and vanilla version (11.3% abv) and hopefully it will still be on for the anniversary party for those of you going. It was listed as an Imperial amber stout conditioned on toasted cacao nibs, vanilla beans and whole coffee beans. It was way more coffee forward than the Dark App coffee and vanilla bottles I had when those were out, and it had the perfect vanilla aftertaste.

 

Any word on xocoveza yet in Ohio

Happen to me once at the Nutsmasher release... Was lucky enough to purchase a bomber from an acquaintance. Stood out in the rain and cold for 1.5 hours, then got shut out with like 10 people left... I'll never stand in line for beer again unless a beej and/or some sort of investment plan comes with it.

 

It's even more painful when as your in line watching it sell out you're seeing facebook posts of people already trading it because they got more than they really planned on drinking. Should drop the limit to half a case per person IMO. Too small of a brewery and release to be giving away a case to everyone in that line.

 

You must have been standing right next to me because I was literally next in line...

They definitely need stricter limits. And I saw a number of people walking out with multiple cases. I did have it on tap though...after trying it I can't say that I blame them.

 

Bummer. I decided to stay because couldn't get there earlier than 2pm and figured that would happen. Did the Sairzzurp bottles sold out early too?

 

And that's where craft beer is today. It's a shame.

 

@PJ_ Yeah, Saizzurp sold out really early. I'm guessing only people who got there an hour or more early got it.

 

anyone who was at the maumee bay release know if there should be some to pick up tomorrow?

 

The crowd was amazing at Hoof Hearted today. It was a beautiful today. The new Columbus brewery has an inspection tomorrow so they'll get their permit and start brewing in December.

So I went to the Hoof Hearted canning release of Dragonsaddle yesterday. Drove 2 hours from Cincinnati and waited in line for and hour. When the people in front of me got to the counter they only had 4 4-packs left. The people in front of me were nice enough to only buy 3 4-packs and let me have the last one. They made my day because otherwise I would have driven 2 hours each way just to drink a few drafts. Thank you for being so nice. The crowd there was pretty awesome and people had a lot of good stuff that they brought themselves like Pliny. I highly suggest making the trip if you ever get the chance. The next canning release is at the end of the month and will feature Musk of the Minotaur.

 

GLBC released details on BA Xmas Ale. Case limit on 11/30 release at the brewery. Will see "limited" distro. Also on tap starting at 1130am on 11/30.

Browns play MNF that day. Looks like a 1/2 day for me.

 

After reading about how crazy Hoof Hearted was I would like to share a happy pleasant experience that I had at the Elevator Brewing Bar Bar release on Saturday. No lines, no limits, and the Buckeye game on. This BA Barleywine is excellent and I am happy that I got to have a couple on draft and take several bottles home with me. I don't think they have bottled this for a couple years.

 

Viet ss on at pies and pints Worthington. Bartender said it's been on for two days, and mine was the first pour. It's eleven bucks for twelve ounces.

 

Agreed. Not bad, but a little too much Xmas for me.
