So Rare is aged in 35 year old Elijah Craig barrels, correct? If so, what is this:

Goose's twitter says "42" in response to a tweet from FoBAB saying "37" (35 year barrels, 2 more years for Rare). Trolling?

 

Pretty sure 42 = meaning of life = beer. so yes, it's a troll.

 

Anyone part of the MBA membership that can disclose some of the tap offerings? I heard at very least goose island sent out s list via email? Just something for us to look forward too!

 

Goose is bringing all of the BCBS variants.. I believe that's a thing they do every year.

Beyond that, I was under the impression breweries were not supposed to disclose what they were bringing to FoBAB so as not to tamper with the competition itself (judges aren't supposed to know what they're drinking)

Yeah, I believe you're right about this, which is probably why we haven't heard much about what people are bringing, despite it only being 4 days away.

 

Speculation is correct. What is being brought is not supposed to be disclosed due to the competition.

 

Actually, per GI's Instagram, it appears that that barrel is "something special," and that they welcome speculation. So I guess it's something new?

 

At rare day they had barrels of Sherry BCS. I'm hoping that's what they're bringing

 

How do you go about transferring tickets? I am interested in buying some off of someone who has already purchased them and cannot make it, but dont want to get scammed.

 

Anyone in the Friday sessions who does not want their booklet I would love to meet up Friday night or Saturday morning and pick it up I will give you a thank you beer I want to be able to have a good plan of attack for Saturday night session

 

They brought everything in 2014. They did not bring everything in 2013. They did not bring everything in 2012. Those are the only years I attended.

And since I'm responding already. Fobab, does not disclose the list of beers for the reason you mentioned. They encourage the brewery not to, but really don't go out of their way to make sure the brewery doesn't.

Also, for the last 3 years, Goose had their own booth pouring several beers not in the competition, these beers were announced on twitter the day before the competition.

Goose has brought everything since 2012. In 2012 and 2013 (at the art center), regular and the released variants were at different booths throughout the festival. Cherry rye kicked in 45 minutes while BA abraxas had zero line all night. Also, the elevator broke. The goose booth in 2012 had 4 bcbs experimental variants that you could get samples of (1 ounce of each on a wooden block). Those were apple brandy, buffalo trace, red wine barrel, and beaudonia (that stuck around for awhile in the city).

In 2013, goose poured a couple bcbs experimentals each session at their own booth. The later session had coffee BW and pepper BCBS. Prop, Backyard, BW, and regular were spread out at different tables. The line was ridiculous for prop and backyard and they kicked fast.

In 2014 (at UIC), Goose had it's own booth for everything which had all of the normal variants and the experimental stuff. I believe they had coffee BW, 2 year BW, 2 year rye, and regular rye; however, my memory is more fuzzy on 2014 for some reason. I think all of the variants lasted for a few hours as well.

 

The MBA is for Goose clyborn, which is not affiliated with Goose Island Beer Company. Clyborn does bring some great stuff, but I don't remember receiving an email last year. I know some of the breweries have posted what they are bringing in the past, but I don't think Goose ever did.

 

so my Imbibe ticket doesn't indicate early entry. am i right to assume that they will simply have my name on a list and i am to show up an hour early for early entry?

 

Was the design for this year's glass released?

 

There was no prop in 2013, it was not at the tables with the judged beer. Backyard was with the rest of the judged beers.

There was no coffee in 2013 only cherry.

 

I could of sworn prop was there in 2013. Maybe it was VIP or maybe I'm remembering wrong. Also, I'm shocked coffee wasn't there in 2012 as there was so much of it to go around that year.

 

Haven't seen anything yet, hope it's better than last year's though. I wasn't very excited about the coffee mug.
