It seems like ipas are really catching my attention lately with warmer weather. I drank a stout yesterday and it just didnt seem as good with it being so nice outside. Any recommendations on great session ales?

Yeah sometimes, especially when i'm outside. But i've always been partial to stouts so i make time for 'em

So usually I drink a lot of stone ipa variations, Ballast point, SN, Jai alai, Westbrook, pretty much any good ipa I can find I give a shot. now that it's cooling down, i had a ten fidy last week, and since then I've had a Bells 30th, two or 3 of last year's supply of narwhal, Lil b imperial Porter, an xocoveza, and a few other stouts. I can't get enough it's like my palate totally flipped. I can't wait to finish all these ipas so I can pretty much drink all stouts all winter...A nice 11% slight boozy finish is so good to me in the cold. Do you guys do the same thing or still alternate night by night?
    Cheers

i'm right there with you...cold, dark nights = strong, dark beers. rapidly depleting my cellar nowadays.

I personally don't stick to "beer seasons" too stringently myself, excluding what is more available on the shelves.
I tend to buy beer more along the lines of what I am feeling when I walk in the store. Just last weekend picked up a nice helles lager and my favorite pilsner, typically considered summer beers, and will be stocking up on those next weekend.

Drink stouts in the summer, kolsch beer in the winter. Fuck the law.

I go a bit darker this time of year ... dunkels, schwarzbiers, stouts ... probably down a few doppelbocks. And I'll dive hard into some dubbels and quads at some point, too.

I forever reserve the right to drink any style anytime of year, but there's no doubt I enjoy diving into the dark malt world as the weather cools. (plus a lot of the great dark-malt beers only hit the shelves this time of year ... I do love a good seasonal)

I think alot of people are like that. I wouldn't consider it a coincidence that the marketing departments of most breweries choose to time the releases of their big beers like imperial stouts in the colder months.

I've gotten into this habit of one IPA and then one of whatever else I have on hand. Back and forth. Whatever the time of year, unless I'm going through a variety pack.

Seasonal offerings and/or traditional seasonal styles make up 75-80% of my consumption. I like variety and I like fresh.

I change my normal beer variety by seasons.
    • Spring - Anyone of the nicer session beers
    • Summer - IPAs all the way
    • Fall - Darker richer beers and of course the many different Pumpkin beers
    • Winter - STOUTS

I have tended to drink more stouts in the winter, but can enjoy them in any weather. I will drink IPA's in all weather conditions if they are available. Barleywines in winter. If it's smoking hot, I really like Hefe's, Pil's, or a Samuel Smith's fruit beer if I can find them.

I only drink stouts during the colder months. For some reason I have a near aversion to them when the weather's warm; if offered a stout or water in July, I'll take the water. (Then I'll drink the water and start looking for an APA or an IPA or a pils or a saison.)

By contrast, I'll drink a hoppy brew any time of year.

In the summer I prefer lower ABV beers (5.5% or less), the rest of the year pretty much anything goes but I usually stick to stuff at 8% or lower. Once the ABV starts getting north of 9.5%, the beers get too sweet and/or boozy for me but there are always exceptions.

Other than seasonals that are only available at certain times of year my beer consumption does not change. I will however drink more heavy beers in the winter than I do in the summer, but by no means will I not drink a storm king in August.

The only reason I drink some beers seasonally is because, for whatever reason, they're only released seasonally. Otherwise, my taste is my taste.

Pilsner at midnight on January 13th, during a blizzard? Sure. Aventinus eisbock at noon, at a tailgate in a parking lot in August? Let's do it.

Not really......but a gose in the middle of winter doesn't really fit...they are best after you have been outside all day sweating or in the beach.

No, my palate doesn't change due to a seasonal influence. What I drink changes due to availability.
