Samuel Adams Winter Classics Variety (2015)

Saranac's 12 pack in this fall was a three bottles of 4 different varieties.

 

Just at my distributor and they said they are not allowed (by SA) to put it out on the shelves until the Fall sampler is sold out. Anybody else hearing this from their distro?

 

just grabbed one on the way outta work. reviews to follow with later this evening.

 

Five of the 6 beers in the Winter Pack are new to me so I picked up a 12-pack yesterday and drank a Chocolate Bock & Fezziwig last night. Liked the Fezziwig a lot but the Chocolate Bock was amazing. Unfortunately my 12-pack only contained 1 Chocolate Bock but had 3 Boston Lagers. I was kind of hoping not to like the Chocolate Bock so I wouldn't be disappointed about there only being one. Now I will have to go back for another 12-pack!

 

This sounds like BS, but my local store still has the fall packs and the winter not out.

 

Mine told me that they won't SEND him any because there's still too much Fall around. In fact, he says he just got more Fall with his first shipment of White Christmas and Winter Lager!

Was the Fall pack really that much of a turd? I didn't even buy one because I already had Oktoberfests and pumpkin beers out the wazoo and wasn't interested in whatever Hoppy Red was...

 

Bought the 12 pack last night for ~$18.50. Seems a little steeper on price by at least a buck or 2 over other Sam Adams 12 packs. Anyway, I've had the Chocolate Bock (more of a milk stout) and Sparkling Ale (Cream stout). I thought both were very solid and enjoyable. Can't wait to see what the Boston Lager tastes like (just kidding).

 

I skipped it, just doesn't motivate.

 

Update: I sent Sam Adams a message via their website letting them know how much I enjoyed the one Chocolate Bock in my 12-pack and asking if there was any way I could get more of the Chocolate Bock on its own. They got back to me within hours apologizing and saying that a refund check was on its way. Wow. Talk about amazing customer service! These guys have their act together. I will be buying my second winter 12-pack today!

 

I would have picked it up as well but, being in the same predicament as you, I passed. I wanted to try the Hoppy Red, but couldn't find any singles. Maybe next year ...
As for SA not sending any Winter Packs until Fall is gone, I'm thinking it's the distributor that wants to hold until they unload more of the Fall packs. I can't imagine SA doing that. Especially with the Winter Pack being prominently posted on their website.

 

Looks like if you buy the one at Sams Club you get a bonus beer called Black and Brew. It is a coffee stout.

 

They must not have had much confidence in it if they throw it in as the Sam club bonus.

 

instead of something else in the 12 pack or as a 13th beer? buddy works at the distributor and just texted me today that our Sam's club got this, debating if it's worth the membership price

 

You should be able to buy alcohol at a Sam's Club without a membership.

 

dang I had a membership a few years ago and back then you couldn't buy anything without it I believe

just called and they have a one day pass for a 10% upcharge at the register, otherwise $45 or $100 annual memberships

 

ok looked online, Sam's club has a 24 pack without the Sparkling Ale and has the Black and Brew instead, 4 bottles each of the 6 styles

 

Interesting. I picked up my 24 pack from Sams Club a week or so ago and it had the Sparkling Ale, not the Black and Brew. Glad to have tried the Sparkling Ale but probably would have preferred the Black and Brew!

[edit] Is this confirmed by someone purchasing it? It looks like the pictures they have on the Sams Club website may be outdated.
