Backwoods Bastard ($16.99) & D'Extra at Cleveland Park Wine & Spirits

 

This latest wave of backwoods seems to be hitting everywhere, individual bottles at Connecticut Avenue, yet more 4 packs at Cairo and the place I always forget on Columbia Road. Town full of bastards.

Connecticut avenue also had Bruery Mash and 8 Maids, Cafe Royale, and what seems to be a new batch of Big Bad Baptist.

 

Beltway Brewing is tapping Grimm Tesseract this weekend.

Has anyone been over their when they have Grimm stuff on tap? Is it crowded, or pretty chill?

 

i know i had the bourbon version. i can only speak to that.

 

Always very chill and they did a nice job with the setup. Folks working have been very cool each time I've stopped in for growler fills. Growler fills on on Grimm IPAs are a little pricey ($24) in comparison to what you'd pay in cans in their distro ($17ish). Pricing is great on their stouts and sours is great though. It's the only way to get Grimm in the area so it makes sense.

do they do packages cans/bottles to go? or just growlerfills? (those tesseract cans look pretty sweet)

 

Just growlers. Grimm noted on BA they have no plans to distro in DC or NoVa so Beltway is it. Thought we might get some considering it's canned and bottled in NoVa. Bummer

 

Dude at Perfect Pour tonight said that the Oskar Blues rep told Perfect Pour they weren't getting Death by Coconut in cans. Only draft. That's fucky if true.

Anybody picked up any of the fresh batch of wings? First can I just cracked is almost flat. sigh

 

It looks like Xocoveza is hitting shops, what kinds of quantities are you seeing?

 

I bought 2 6-packs on Saturday and I'm down to 2 cans. Maybe 2 of the 10 I've opened have been a little flat, but not all (odd its not the whole 6-pack). They taste has been great though even for the slightly flat ones. None had a ton of carb, but most have been OK.

 

Chatted with Dave, brewmaster, today on pickup at the production taproom. Should be hitting locations around NOVA tomorrow. Not sure which ones but expect the bottle shops that that regularly stock Three Notch'd. They will be putting some Biggie in barrels probably next month to bottle BA Biggie probably Mar/Apr. Get it while you can!

 

Bought a case and it's been very good. Haven't had much of a carb problem and this is a an above average batch in terms of hoppiness.

 

No way this hit the shelves, right? Didn't get around to reserving one.
