If reg BCBS is $15-20 per bottle I will...

  1. Buy fewer bottles than what I really want

    62.8%
  2. Buy about 3-5 bottles and call it a day

    24.1%
  3. Buy as many bottles I can find still. Price is no object.

    13.1%

At that price I would say 0 but there's no option for that.

Thankfully my store releases other rare beers on black Friday along with BC. I think I'll just go for one bottle of BCBS and some others.

I'd still probably shoot for a case (which is now 12 bottles). BCBS is the best bourbon barrel stout that I've had besides TG stouts, and it's far more available than any of them. Nothing else comes close, especially nothing that is as available. As is, I'm hoping to grab as much as I've gotten in the past, despite the format change.

I loved Regal Rye way more than I expected, so I will shoot for a few of those, but I'm mostly interested in as much Coffee and regular as I can grab.

Proper retail at TW/WF/Wegmans is $8.99
Which, if executed, makes the new format no more or less attractive than the 4pks (assuming case count/ overall volume per account is the same). I for one, only care about "regular" and the barleywine.

When they "stick it to you" walk away. Amazes that Ten Fidy and Speedway sit
on the shelf by me, but people run after this like lunatics.

I look at it like this, this is a once a year thing. Some bottles of Wicked Weed beers are available, some are $15. So I have no problem buying local here, none gouge on the price, they'll charge what they'll charge. They don't make their living trying to gouge on 10 cases of bcbc, anyone who does is foolish.

If they are charging more than 12$ for regular find a new store. That being said money is of no object for this one to me.

My shop told me "Good luck looking for rare!".

They weren't being mean or sarcastic - they don't think there's a chance rare will make it to shelves around here. Not sure I'd pay $80 or $100 for it, but I'd like the option.

I would spend $12-$15 at most I think for the regular and non-rare variants, I won't be going out of my way to buy it though and will be more likely to trade for a couple of bottles instead.

This beer is good, but not worth a wait in line or a ridiculous markup IMO.

Tired of beer release lines. I'll buy zero unless I see on a shelf which is highly unlikely here in Chicago where people love "limited releases" and lines for beer and go ape for stuff like this.

Lines will start on Thanksgiving. Sad.

I won't go out of my way to find it but if I see it I'll buy a few bottles.

MSRP of the regular stuff is $9.99. I have it on good authority that the Kroger stores which will be getting BCBS will be selling at $8.99/bottle with a limit of 2/person.

Don't understand why everyone is justifying the price increase?!? Putting this beer in 500mL bottles is the biggest money grab I've seen since I've been into craft. 500mL bottles is the easiest way to deceivingly overprice per ounce. Last year you could get $5+ : 12oz bottles, this year $10+ : 16.9oz. So double the price for 4.9oz more. Everyone keeps comparing it to other higher prices options but those didn't increase significantly since last year, they have always been that much even when BCBS was cheaper. You would think Goose would be able to make/distribute this beer even easier and cheaper this year with the help of AB-Inbev but all they care about is milking every penny out of this recognized cash cow that they can. I keep saying it and I'll say it again, if we continue to pay whatever prices they demand we will price ourselves out of many beers eventually until only the 1%ers will be able to afford them, just like fine scotch or wine.

You're on the money with this one. As a business, why do I care about how high the price is when I sell 100% of the product? If the customer will buy 100% at a high cost, take advantage. That's what businesses do, esp these huge companies.

Here's the numbers I found that maybe useful: (From the CT Liquor control site)

    Supplier price
    BCBS 12/16.9 56.75
    BCCS 12/16.9 68.65
    BCBW 12/16.9 68.65
    Regal Rye 12/16.9 148.80

    Wholesale price
    BCBS 12/16.9 84.00/109.04
    BCCS 12/16.9 no price found
    BCBW 12/16.9 101.00/131.12
    Regal Rye 12/16.9 185.00/240.21

Did not see any minimum retail price listed ( CT has a minimum retail price beer can be sold for )

The Houston official release is being run by Spec's and they've announced $9.99 for regular and $11.99 for BW/Coffee. I didn't see prices for Rare/Regal. I was most surprised that the BW/Coffee are more than regular because they were always the same in the past. I didn't ever see what MSRP was on the variants besides Rare, so I might just be ignorant of what the expectations were this year. I mostly just wanted to pick up the BW this year, but at $12 and probably limit 1 (what I'm assuming Austin will see), I might just stick with the few 2013 BWs I still have. I'm not sure I want to go stand in line at 6am to buy a single beer that I basically already have.

At that price I definitely won't be buying as many as usual. Typically can find around a case-worth at various stores. I always like to try the current year and then age a bunch of said year so I will probably just try one and age 1-2.

Kroger in your area gets BCBS? haha, that's awesome.

Price probably wont be a factor where I am bc I doubt I will find more than a bottle or two anyways.
