Does this belong in the DC, VA, MD thread? Or just the DC thread? Ah, F it...

Stopped at Schneider's yesterday to pick up some Hendricks gin, and they've got Black Friday stuff up on the door and a banner outside, they will open at normal time, 10 am, per GI's instructions, and GI reps will be there too, coffee and donuts for the masses.

They will have ALL variants, and .rar is $80...dafaq?

See some of you hosers in line.

Dominion says they have no clue what they're getting in terms of BCBS.

I've got so many wise ass comments, but I'll refrain...I'd say as long as it's in a cup, don't be that guy and you should be good.

Not going to name the store, but I was told that the availability is based on if the store sell other goose island beers. The person mentioned that Goose Island was only providing very very limited inventory to their store because the store couldn't sell their other stuff. Not sure how this works because all there other beers are disgusting. I can't imagine other store selling a lot of their other beers. But their bcbs is amazing.

Yeah that's pretty much how all breweries allocate their high demand limited stuff. I also can't imagine how these places go through enough goose to get a decent bcbs allocation, I don't know anyone who buys it and I never see it on draft.

That's usually how it works. The more GI you sell year round, the more BC allotment you get.

Okay, I was talking to a guy at Nick's of Calvert in Prince Frederick, and he said Maryland will not be getting a single variant this year. No BW, no Coffee, no laughably overpriced Rare, nothing.

[My knowledge on MD distribution isn't perfect, but here goes nothing:]

I know that the AB InBev distributor for that region (Bob Hall) is a subsidy of a larger distribution channel for this state, and how it works is: the main distributor gets the main wad of BCBS, and splits that wad between stores it serves and its smaller subsidy distributors for AB InBev products (Bob Hall and ITS subsidy, Guy in St. Mary's County; perhaps Wantz and Kelly too?), with the big GI sellers ultimately getting the vast majority of said wad (State Line, PP, etc...)

Now, if Maryland is getting jack, or only Northern MD is getting the variants remains to be seen. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

That's disappointing to hear.,While it is a great beer, there are so many out there that are just as good. Purposely making beer hard to get is a marketing scheme that allows them to increase the price. Not a fan of AB InBev. Maybe this year I will pass.

That's how they pick amounts for Avery Uncle Jacob's, Bell's Black Note/ Hopslam, et al. Asking places to support Matilda/Sophie to get BCBS is standard procedure. Hell wineries/suppliers give first dibs on the limited cab/merlot/red blend to restaurants that support their chardonnay/Sauv blanc by the glass. Would it be more fair to give shop "X" bcbs when they hadn't sold any GI all year, in lieu of a shop "Y" that sold 300cs of GI in the previous 12 months?

That's a very valid point. I'm just tired of the marketing hype of purposely limiting quantities so that it increases the hype and the price for the consumer. I'm not just saying that for bcbs but for all those "limited quantity" beers that people stand in line and get suckered into paying high prices. Not judging because Inhave done the same before. Nevertheless, this topic is suited for another thread and not bashing the beer because the it is a good beer. Just don't think I want to go through the hassle of getting it. But that's just me. Anyways Cheers!!

For me, it's no biggie - I was only looking for a couple bottles (okay, MAYBE 3 ) of the standard BCBS to keep my vertical going.

    Also, fuck $80 for Rare.

Actually, Matilda, Sophie, Lolita, Halia, Gillian, and a number of their stouts and other beers are far from disgusting.

Anyone know what the sweet spot was for arrival in line at WF P Street last year in order to get all variants?

I think people were lined up at 4 or 5 am before the store opened. Also, since Randy's no longer there, it's unclear if they're getting what they would have otherwise.

WF P St. doesn't start selling beer until 9 am right? Or is it 7 am when they open? Anybody planning on waiting in line on Fri at WF or anywhere else? Still curious to know what the scoop is for NoVA!
