LOL ... There is a big difference from having some haze to looking like a milk shake. When I homebrewed back in the 1990's I was triple dry hopping my IPAs before people even knew what "dry hopping" was and my beers were just a bit hazy. Never going to buy into breweries putting out hoppy beers that are more cloudy than a hefeweizen or witbier. So yes, the joke will never get old even if it is not entirely accurate. ;-)

It also sounds like a home brew session "we recklessly shoved hops in there" lol they should try to make a decent lager first.

Not sure if serious on the 'decent lager' part.......

Does that mean you think lagers aren't good or something?

Interesting...and highly unoriginal angle. Stone has been doing this for almost 3 years. Kock acts like he came up with this idea...

I think a big difference is the fact that Enjoy By is a periodic release that's becoming more regular. Sam is looking to make this an every day thing. That in and of itself is a little more interesting to me.

Can't tell if the .... is supposed to denote sarcasm, but I'm pretty sure Jim Koch would buyback old stock of Boston Lager during the early days of Sam Adams.

I was speaking in regards to his "epiphany" on a 35 day shelf-life with their new IPA.

I knew Koch was on Greg's tip. Damn, man. An established cat should never sink to these levels, especially when you publicly denounce these beers ad nauseam. Go back to pimping your lager, please.

So, once a brewery is the first to do something, no other brewery can follow suit? :astonished:

Seems to me there'd be a whole lot less beer on the shelves (and fewer breweries) if that rule was followed.

People aren't mad about them doing it, they're mad about Jim Koch saying it had never been done before.

It's not that at all, @jesskidden. It's the way Koch went about it. Imagine me screaming I'm the IPA Hunter larrrrrrrrrrrrge at the top of the heavens, then one day I denounce them and act like our love affair never existed. This is my take on what Koch is doing, albeit from a counter perspective. Maybe I'm alone in this regard, but it's my opinion.

Just because Sam Adams isn't known for it's IPAs and hasn't made any good ones until just recently (depending on your opinion) doesn't mean that Sam Adams can't ever make IPAs. He is adapting to the market and the consumers and he is trying to make his customers happy and maybe reach a wider audience of IPA lovers. I agree that Koch bashing IPAs and now making them seems like a little hypocrisy, but it's not like his brewery is anti-IPA, or focused exclusively on a particular style. Sam Adams has always made a huge variety of beers, and they are adapting to the modern market.
