bought yesterday at Belmonst Station, and it's so saison/ Belgian spicy. Was expecting something much better, almost hop venom like. Lots of people on Untappd/twitter saying the same thing about bad batch/yeast mix up. So, since I think I missed out, what should the flavor be like, as far as comparable beers.

This last batch was not the greatest. I get a lot of onion/rotten vegetable flavor in this batch. I can understand the Belgian yeast reference as well. Compared to prior batches, I consider this last one disappointing and not up to par with all prior batches.

It tasted a little better on draft, but still nothing like the old Sticky Hands. The last few batches have all tasted off to me. Not sure what's going on with it.

Blindfolded I would have thought it was a belgian IPA, a style that I avoid like the plague.

We switched yeast suppliers and have found (the hard way) the strain is producing light phenolics at packaging after the third generation. Fortunately it is below most peoples threshold. Normally, the yeast is soft with notes of citrus and peach. We have switched back and next months batch will be back on course. Excited for this years hops to freshen up the next batches as well.

    cheers,
    Nick

Thanks for the response here and on Twitter. Will have to have my brother get me a 4 pack when the next batch is produced!

Glad I'm not alone. Definitely felt something was off with this batch. Will still drink it, but looking forward to taste of previous batches coming back.

Just a heads up, the new batch came out a couple days ago, and it's as good (if not better) than ever.

Yup, new batch canned 11/17. Based on the sales pace since I'd assume we should have it in stock through tomorrow and probably most of Sunday, but then again there's a shitload of tourists in town for the de Garde party, the MOAS release, the Peche & Brett release, and god knows what else is going on this weekend, so it may go a bit quicker.

Thank goodness. I got 3 4-packs from Corvallis last weekend and was crushed that it wasn't normal sticky hands. It was good on tap but the cans are mostly still in my fridge

I hate to say it, but ever since they stopped doing the monthly big bottles, the quality has dropped big time

You mean since last month? They just started releasing Sticky in cans, with the third batch just hitting town. That also includes moving to a brand new brew house, increasing volume, frequency of release, and experimenting with the yeast. I haven't had the third batch yet, but the first was decent. Second not so much, but the brewery has already stated they're going back to the original yeast. I think I would give them a bit more than three releases over the past 7 or 8 weeks before making a judgement.

Drinking this 11/17 batch. Still tastes odd to me. I think I taste a Belgian yeast characteristic. Hm. Not giving up on it yet.

I actually think the quality has steadily declined since the first few variations.

There were brand new cans pouring yesterday at the De Garde party and I thought they were far better than the second batch, which wasn't really good. Maybe not as good as some of the better bottles, but it held up fine against Alpine HFS.
