I have yet to have anything from a Tequila barrel that really gained anything noteworthy or good from it. The fact that I don't like Tequila much doesn't help. :stuck_out_tongue:
Myrcenario might be an exception, but I think it just tasted like straight oak to me. At that point, might as well just chip it like Great Divide does. Seems a lot cheaper and easier.

I'm probably the only person...but I think it was nothing special. Good certainly, but not really my thing. I'm not a huge fan of the Avery BA sours. I like the more traditional spirits barrel big beers from them.
I've gotten picky with aged sours thanks to so many being available.

I feel like I am right here with you guys on the Avery special release sours. I have had I think 3 of the sour beers and honestly for the price I didn't think they were that great. It also doesn't help that one of the local stores price gouges on a lot of stuff including the Avery bottles. ($16-17) Opuntia was probably my favorite of them, but it was a little more puckeringly sour than I would have liked, which dominated the other flavors in the mix. I wish I had done a better job of keeping track of my "hads" before Untappd and BA.

Oud Floris might be my favorite sour beer I have tried. When bottles of that one re-appeared on the local shelves for the GABF six months after its initial release and I got to try that one for my second time, I thought it was fantastic. I never needed an Avery sour after that though. They seemed kinda generic to one another in a general/broad kind of way and they just became less and less interesting to me.

Can't wait for 30 and 31. Opuntia is the only sour I've enjoyed. Really like that beer.

I really enjoy Avery's barrel aging program, even if not every release is a home run. Going back to #10 & 11, the first of the series that I bought at release and tried at the time: terrific experiments with grape must and wine barrel aging. If sour beers are the wines of the beer world, what better way to explore that relationship? Going forward, I would put Oud Floris, Opuntia, Obscuro & Nimbosus, Rufus Corvus, Antonius Carmen, and Vallum up against any of the top AWA's in the country. Especially considering that they were trying to craft unique beers with cocktails, wines, and old world sours as inspiration. I can understand if they're not for everyone, but more hits than misses IMO. And that's only covering the sours.

But I also love the fact that I can waltz into shops or taproom well after a release and snag bottles that are in my wheelhouse. They're not cheap, but they're crafted with care and often very tasty.

For the sake of convenience here are the most recent labels that were posted in this thread. Hopefully it's nothing more than just a change in the production schedule. It would be a shame if Old Perseverance pulled a Black Tot as it's the most appealing of the 3 IMO.

I kinda dig both of the last two. I'll hope it's just a typo/mistake!

Grrrrr. I'd try Double D but that Old Perseverance definitely sounded more appetizing. Hopefully it just needs more time and it will end up as #33.

I'd imagine it'll be the same price as Raspberry Sour, so $12-13 range.
