BTW, who went to the DSN dinner last night? What all was poured and what were the "surprises" they spoke of?

By some great beer karma, someone hooked me up with their extra ticket. The surprise was the "Red Eye Darkstar" or whatever they're calling the coffee variant.

Got to keep the glass, which is probably on sale. It looked like maybe just a small half dozen folks only got a couple of bottles, but everyone else pounced on that shit. Saw some folks walk out with 3-4 cases due to picking up those others who didn't get their full allotment.

The food - wow. yeah, I enjoyed the Fundy dinner, but this one edged it out. The dishes were really well done. Dessert had a Darkstar November Gastrique was so damn good, I'm going to have to devote some bottles just to replicating that.

Red Eye November is seriously awesome. Barkeep said they MAY bottle it next year. Very close to being on par with last year's BCBCS.

Last years BCBCS was one of the worst years for the coffee variant. So...was it good or bad?

Last years is the only BCBCS that I've had, and it's still one of my favorite beers overall. So, yes, Red Eye November ("REN"?) was great. Even the people next to me at the bar concurred.

But, maybe I should just say it's crap so that no one actually tries to buy it if its bottled next year.

Bottles lasted until closing. Had a couple pours on tap (showed up too late for the coffee variant) and it is very good. Maybe a bit thicker mouthfeel than last years, but I could be wrong, I haven't had the 2014 in awhile.

Sorry, got to throw money at Goose instead of purchasing a better local stout.

IMO the last two bottle releases have been a huge improvement over the FO embarrassment. There is still room for some JackHole to get more than the 4 bottle limit but, nowadays I think we all know we will all have to live with profiteers who see a dollar can be made on supply/demand economics.

The wife and I cracked a bottle open yesterday and I thought it was a good beer just like last years. Could have sat in the barrel a little longer and I'm sure they they do have a couple doing just that. I'm sure this will see distribution locally.
    Cheers!

It's getting distributed to the local accounts. But there's no way it'll be like last year where it sat for months and months. This sucker is going to be sold quickly.
