Meet me there with your 8 cases of hipster so we can trade. It's the only way I'll be able to get some

It's tough for any brewery that has to figure this out (as it is for many businesses with less supply than there is demand), and I'm not sure anyone really has figured out the "right" answer. It sucks if you were someone who had planned on getting there later in the day that someone else could take cases upon cases for their buddies, but whatever. There is plenty of beer out there, and much better things in life to worry about. I still may disagree with no limits for stuff like this, but I don't lose sleep over it...unlike BCBS, which I apparently will be losing sleep over when I have to wake up earlier than I want!

Sorry I only got 1.5 cases & the 1/2 case went to a friend & the rest is going to regular trade partners & my basement but had you said something ahead of time I could've gotten you some

I picked up a case, 12 of the hipster and 4 each of hazel's, scallywager and mokka. I thought about picking up a full case of hipster but the beer in my basement is getting out of hand. Love the hipster and nuts, haven't tried the others yet. If I get a vote I'd vote for - oh wait, I don't get a vote on how you release your product odd side. Thanks for the quality beverages.

Thanks for the offer. My main gripe, or grape, is the complete lack of beer etiquette by the people who were there that filled their vans full and more importantly by the brewery allowing people to purchase 10, 20, 30 cases. I think anyone who shows up at a release has earned the right for a larger allotment than they would find at a bottle shop. Selling it at a rate that guarantees the rest of the state a fighting chance seems more sensible from a long term business standpoint

Beer etiquette conversations are a slippery slope.

...and at the end of that slippery slope you'll find an ass with 3 counties worth of a limited release beer. Grab a case of beer, fine, but grabbing twenty cases for the purpose of making money or hoarding is flat out shitty.

    @hopnado

I bought 29 cases total, but am only keeping one for myself, and honestly only plan to mix with KBS (it's fantastic, call it hobos breath)

But the other 28 will be distributed to east siders. No profit to be made, I was already going to go, and loading the cases and unloading them was gonna take a whopping 10 minutes extra from my life.

Also, 6 of the cases I grabbed last minute because another east side mule who was going to arrive at 5 am like myself had to take his pregnant wife to the emergency room, so I helped where I could.

I know people want to assume I'm doing it for personal gain, to "make myself feel like I have friends" etc., but honestly, it's no inconvenience, makes me feel good hooking other people up and was fun overall.

Wait, no I did profit, about 3000 sky miles for my delta card, so there's that.

I can fit 33 cases in my car, and I'll be happy to help fill that much next time as well.

HAHA!!! Yeah right! You're just gonna dish out an extra 28 cases like a magical beer fairy out of the goodness of your heart. Please tell me how much of a pimp you are captain eastsiiiiide!!!

I say good for you. Odd side purposely left out case limits (so they don't have to deal with distribution- i.e. cut out the middle man) and you hooked up several people on the east side. I also enjoy getting beer for people that wouldn't normally be able to get it. Cheers!

Why do you find this to be so difficult to believe? I realize a lot of people are douche canoes (see: guy who attempted to buy entire case of BCBS with me and 3 others behind him Friday morning), but the majority of the BA's I've run into have been extremely generous. While I didn't have anybody asking me to mule for them (as quite frankly I don't hang out with many craft beer drinkers), I would've helped friends out that asked (and done it for the selling price of said beer). Again, 30 cases is a bit of a haul, but as @LSKennedy stated only 1 was for himself. At least the beer is going to others who know about craft, vs. some guy picking up a 4pack of this randomly (and shutting you out on the retail front).

And FWIW @hopnado if you really want to try this beer, why not focus on that vs. bashing a release that you didn't attend? From a 'business' standpoint, again, I think that Odd Side did JUST fine with their handling of this (see: $100,000+ beer sales realistically in one day...) with quite a bit going out of state (see: wider footprint than distro would be).

Just curious, what do you think the limits should have been on Hipster Brunch? Were the 4 pack limits too much as well? How bout 1 bottle limit of Morningwood? My Wife tagged along with me out to this one, and I could've had her buy her allocation of Morningwood, Hazel's Nut's, etc...But didn't. Many will call me a fool for NOT doing this, but with 100 people behind me, I didn't want to prevent somebody (who made the trip) from getting this.

It seems to me there's quite a sense of entitlement these days, like these types of beers should just be readily available to everybody. Oh wait, this one WAS readily available for nearly 8 hours.

So, is there any chance that some Hipster was kept and put aside for distro by Oddside or should I start thinking about trading?

It's not what I "think" I know, Alec. It is true that those 27 cases of Hipster did not (at least immediately) leave the state. But let's be honest for a second, this beer release was insanely popular because of the tremendous trade value hipster has seen over the past year. I would wager that a majority of those cases delivered to your east side bros will be used as trade bait and not for personal consumption.

I'm sure you didn't receive any "thank-you beers" did you Alec? I'll bet there was some nice ones too.

And while you're making yourself out to be a saint, answer me this. Did you, or did you not, announce to the FB groups that Oddside had implemented a 2 case limit due to a rapidly deminishing supply? Probably about the same time you were loading 29 cases into your Kia. You may have thought it was funny, but I know people who changed their plans based on that news.

I'm not sure I understand this. You don't buy anything "extra" (BCBS or Hipster) or have your wife take an allotment so you can have a few more bottles, even though she waited in line because you think it is morally wrong and should save some for the next guy. However, it is okay for someone to buy over 20 cases to distribute to "friends". Seems contradictory.

I did say that, just like I've done for almost every release.

It usually gets debunked, people laugh, we move on.
