I bought two regulars for 20 bucks at the South Loop Binny's in Chicago. I don't know how you keep getting ripped off like this, bud.

Did we ruin Bourbon County? What's this "we" stuff?

Don't look at me. I chased zero BCBS bottles and got none. Instead, I went to Oddside and paid $100 for a case of Hipster Brunch Stout and $70 for another 16 bottles of barrel aged imperial stouts.

I do appreciate you sharing your story. It sounds like you learned a lesson and you won't do your part to feed the hype next year.

Were you completely rip-roaring sloppy wasted when you bought these?

Spend your money on whatever the hell you want, if beerhunting is one of your hobbies, just go with it. This will probably cut into your beer budget for a while, but these prices are nothing in the wine or whisky world.

But, remember that the easy to find classics are just as good. BCBS is classic, but so are Storm King Old Rasputin and Ten Fidy.

You know this just may be a good turning point for you. Mine wasn't as dramatic, but there came a point when I realized that it wasn't worth doing things out of character for me just to have the latest beer. Like you, one day I asked myself WTF am I doing? For me it was about the chase. Being able to say I got this beer and not wanting to be left out of the conversation. I then realized like others have more harshly said, its just beer and to sit back and enjoy the one your drinking.

I think Illinois might be the hardest place to get Bourbon County... which is weird.

Several liquor stores here sold it with no limit. No variants though.

I don't think that WE ruined Bourbon County. Not to be a dick, but I think that people who are willing to drop $230 on 2 bottles of beer is what is ruining Bourbon County.

Did the same thing (also scored some BCBS though too). I'm more excited about the Hipster and the Hazel's Nut though!

I don't understand the hype for BCBS. There are better BA stouts out there that are pretty easily accessible, and honestly, I'm not the biggest BA fan in general.

I found it to be fairly similar to New Holland Dragon's Milk. Creamy finish, a bit too sweet and boozy up front. Needs a little more bitterness, whether from roasted malts or hops.

I think we are actually in the majority. When it comes to this website, we might be in the minority. lol

The people who bring mules are not part of the problem? Really?

Seems to me that the general consensus is where I was already leaning. Lesson learned, I was part of the problem this year, don't wait in line next year. Got it. Thanks for the straightforwardness, even those of you that called me stupid. You at least backed it up.

I get wondering - if it is as good as the hype - why wouldn't they make and sell more of it? Limited barrels, yada yada yada. Perhaps if more had access to it, then it would be discovered that there are indeed better or equal beers widely available with no hype and at reasonable price.

My usual store sold out early. I stopped by my neighborhood Wegmans and they still had 8 bottles of Reg for $10, limit of 4. I bought my limit and went home happy. I wanted to try Rye, BW and may Rare if the price was right. I didn't see any and I'm kinda glad I didn't otherwise I might have been tempted to blow more money on this one. Last year I bought one pack of Reg and still have 3 bottles in my cellar. I imagine these 2015s will be in there for quite some time as well unless I can trade a friend for something interesting.

Big Bad Baptist is super similar to BCBCS.

Pretty sure I'm done after this year. I bought one bottle of regular and immediately felt bothered about the format change and the audacious gravy training that AB/GI has employed within the franchise. There's so many beers that I've one and "doned" even though they were decent, and this one is now on that list. No more will "fomo" win out. This isn't a stand against buyouts or anything like that, simply one consumer that realizes that the relationship between consumer and business has become one of master and sucker. Like I mentioned in another thread, there's way too much good beer out there to allow one line of beer to become so consequential.

I refuse to buy anything Bourbon County myself on general principle, since that money's going to ABI.

I'd much rather spend my money making my semi-monthly trips up to New England and Vermont for IPA cans; more beer for your dollar, not as much time waiting in line, and just visiting the NE/VT brewery hotspots is an added bonus in itself.
