we are talking about 80 dollars being the "good" price for a bottle of beer? and this money is going to busch? the only reason i would ever acquire a rare would be to tell anyone and everyone how i was right that the difference in quality between that and plenty of other beers is not even close to the difference in price. i don't care that i've never had it, there is so much good beer out there that i have had that you're not going to convince me that the prices being thrown around in this thread are even remotely justified. what are they doing differently? what is their secret? not saying i have nothing left to learn/discover when it comes to beer, but busch and goose island can suck my balls before i pay 80 dollars for a bottle and be happy it wasn't more.

The "We" I belong to isnt ruining anything. The newmoney homies willing to pay anything for a stout with any fuckall adjuncts are. I havent bought bc it 2 years and will continue not to do so and support companies who give me more great beer for my dollar. CBC YEMS, every bit as excellent a beer moving from 22s to 750s while dropping price. I walked right past the forced storefront GI display to get that and other far better beers. Your "we" can ruin all the beer you want. My bread isnt buttered there.

I'm chuckling at the few people on this thread who are saying they will only be drinking bcbs on draft. Assuming bottles of the regular are sold at msrp, it's $.59/oz. I paid more than that for pours of decadence and for exponential hoppiness today with lunch. I would be surprised if most pours on premise weren't close to $1/oz (when tip is factored in).

That was impressive. You fit an "holier than though" post and a humble brag into the same message.

Madame Rose, Juliet, and Lolita? That's actually a pretty reasonable offer on the surface; maybe a touch above MSRP, but there's rare/"vintage" stuff in there... I'd probably have taken a case with me.

And if that product still sells out completely and quickly, even with a 50% markup, then it is evident that the market does not consider the price unfair, unreasonable, exploitative, or unethical.

And if it does not sell out and the seller has to discount, the opposite is true. Thus, the market determined overpricing.

For the love of god, you're being far too technical. Let's say it's seller imposed market premium. I can also point out air fares are considered a luxury items but Airlines were sued for collusion years back by the US government so pricing behavior. Who says the same lawsuit can't be done with other products? You just need someone with deep pockets and pissed off enough :stuck_out_tongue:.

No, my decision to go with another retailer was based on due diligence by contacting a few shops in my area with regards to availability and pricing. So you probably need to expand the scope to price vs available options. If you lack options or have not conducted researched then you may be inclined to accept the cost provided you have disposable income. That being said pure purchasing is not the only viable option as there's significant beer trading on this site, that might give an individual access to wider markets with different cost structures. Additionally, the shop I went to has a habit of raising prices initially and gradually discounting them when they don't sell out. I would deem that a seller price testing the market in an attempt to establish a new market price premium for that product.

Technical? No just stating the definition of a term that gets tossed around just about every rare beer release or almost every "my beer is too expensive" thread.
Or you know you can put the bottle down, turn around and walk out of the store empty handed with $60 or more still in your pocket, or buy $60 or more of other beer and get more bang for your buck, the joy of free market economy. Its the consumer that ultimately sets what price is too high.

Also, even though I think it's one of the very best beers in its class, I think there's no shortage of world class BA stouts going around to warrant going through extreme pain. Darkest Hour by Anchorage beats BC imo.

    Oh bullsh#t!

You can do your homework, get there early, stand in line for hours, and still people like the OP who think it's fine to drag non beer drinking family members out to, "triple their allotment," will indeed lock you out.

And that's not your fault, that's the fault of selfish a-holes like the OP.

The ironic thing is the OP calls it, "tripling HIS allotment," when in fact it's not his at all. Never was. It's supposed to be spread out, that's exactly what the LIMITS are for! To prevent hoarding!

People openly talking about circumventing limits like it's just a normal thing to do are in fact a problem in beer.

And if you are the type of person who defends gaming the system for your own selfish need to have all the beer, you are part of the problem in beer as well. Period.
