That does not seem accurate. Also I have seen a lot of places that definitely didnt get 40 cases and they were all selling in the $10-11 range. There is no way AB is charging any retailer over $20/bottle.

I think it's more likely the bottle shop owners are capitalizing on the craze that comes but once a year. If they don't get many, they have to maximize profits when they can. SOMEBODY will pay the price...just not this guy.

I've seen Regal for sale at nearly $50 and I cannot recommend buying it at that price. Nor would I recommend Coffee at $25/$30 but people WILL pay for that.

Barleywine this year is INSANELY good. Head and shoulders a better beer than last year's version. Lots of fruit / brown sugar / toffee and a hint of maple. I was shocked.

    ISO: Barleywine - ha!

yes. As someone who works for a retailer, a case of regular Bourbon County Stout is $250. I shit you not.

Local shop said they had Regal and sold out around 1:00 Friday. If I knew they might get it, I would have been there earlier.

I can't find the barleywine anywhere though. Any suggestions around the Franklin to Hopkinton stretch?

Your stats are somewhat accurate. If a retailer bought 40 cases of Goose Island (not Bourbon County) 312, Honkers, IPA, etc etc...., they were guaranteed to get at least 5 cases of BCBS. If you got the 40 cases, there was a price break of $165 off a case of Bourbon County (making it $85 a case instead of $250) So, to be guaranteed the BCBS at the right price, a store would essentially have to make an investment of around $800 (not $10,000) I assume they do this so that the stores that carry the Goose Island line and sell it, get a guaranteed amount of the BCBS and variants.

This is a large discount however on a single case, but this is how the liquor industry works in MA. Its not specific to Bud/InBev.

dropping a price from $250 to $85 is a rather substantial discount, and not how the MA liquor industry usually works. Yes drops bring prices down, and the more you buy the bigger the discount. But anything over like $7 off is pretty unusual. This price scheme forces businesses to carry 40 cases of their beer or have their image dragged through the mud.

I saw the stout @ 9.99 and 11.99. The Barley wine was 12.99 as well in MA.

Pemberton still has 2-3 BW bottles out. $13.95.

In the past, they've put out limited releases during their winter events, like the chocolate and wine one coming up in a couple weeks.

Anyone seeing Barleywine in metro-west? Especially to the south along 495?

Give them a call. In fact, call around to the larger stores that got 50-100+ cases, many still have plenty of bottles on the shelf and have raised limits or eliminated them all together.

Heard a rumor that some stores will be receiving more or their first delivery today/this week. Anyone know if there is truth to that? If so, variants or just the regular?

Seeing the mentions of sightings at the Burlington Wegman's, I shot over to Northboro today. Unfortunately they had nothing (including the multiple pallets of freshly arrived inbev products). I'm guessing that they've long since sold out.

Liquor World tweeted that they got some in today - from the picture it looked like just the regular stout.
