Hi complaint is that we are "giving away" "insider information" to "people who haven't registered an account," I suppose.

The unfortunate reality is that this "insider myth" doesn't exist any more. The upside is that the market has become significantly more democratic, for better or for worse.

At the end of the day, if you feel you "deserve" to get this beer more than someone else, either seek it out through trade or some other means, or realize that there are just beers you aren't going to get your hands on. It's ok. It sucks, but it's ok.

After getting dicked around by WF Bowery and WF Chelsea beer depts numerous times over the phone (was passed around over and over, was on hold forever, only after all the bs to be told there wasnt any regular left, total bullshit), I called Top Hops and they were incredibly cordial and helpful, stopped by and picked up reg and bw, easy peasy.

While the WF beer depts I dealt with all seemed annoyed being asked about BC, Top Hops was extremely pleasant. I know the folks who work at beer stores/depts are sick of hearing about BC, but guess what bud, it's your job so just freakin do it like everyone else. You think they aren't tired of hearing about BC at Top Hops?!

So my sincerest THANK YOU to owner and the guy behind the bar (used to have a pony) who made my experience easy and pleasant, and with a smile on their faces.

That's customer appreciation and grade A+ service and why I have always loved spending my hard earned cash at Top Hops.

to be fair, the people at WF outside of the normal beer guys are completely clueless when it comes to the beer. hence you get people putting out cases of coffee that get snatched up by the case. WF Midtown East still had plenty as of about 3pm. Regular is 9.99/bottle.

FYI, those "cases" are not full. I just bought 9 bottles, preferring to carry mine out in a box rather than as loose bottles, and when I went to open one of the boxes to pull out 3, I found that there were only 4 in the box, one in each corner to support the box above. Anyway, don't expect to go there and buy 13 cases.

top hops was down to 4 cases of regular last night - i think they've sold through 220 or 240 since friday. definitely more sold since friday than all of last year's BCBS (and if you remember, TH carried it for months and months). TH also has barleywine left. as of last night, BCBS 13 14 15 and BCBW 14 15 were on tap.

I went to one store (that will remain nameless) which had a single bottle behind the counter. When I asked if it was for sale they said "not yet." I was curious as to what they meant by that. I'm assuming a raffle. If not a raffle, then color me puzzled.

So if I'm in the South Jersey area later this week there should be BCB distribution out since it wasn't released BF? Is that what I'm seeing?

I see a lot of New Jersey people having issues finding even regular BCBS. Is it too troublesome to drive to Manhattan? I know not every one lives near Manhattan but it just seems like there is plenty to be had with a drive in NYC. It even seems like it's not too difficult to nab the BCBBW either here. Maybe it's not worth that drive to some though.

I agree. Made a day trip out of it on Sunday and got as much as my little heart desired at one stop. Much easier then driving all over the place like a mad man to get a single bottle from each store.

It's not just the drive, but tolls and parking. I did consider stopping at WF Chelsea on my way home for the BW, since I was already in Brooklyn, but add in about $20 to park and it just doesn't seem worth it for the detour. I'm glad I got my 2 bottles from Brooklyn, and if that's all I get so be it.

I must admit that my attitude about all this was pretty cavalier this year, though, considering we were getting the regular into March last year. Live and learn...

For those interested and who follow my twitter, 95% of bcbs and variants are arriving at stores tomorrow. I'll be updating the twitter when cases arrive. Variant cases Won't be on normal trucks, so don't waste time following the big red/blue tractors around. Smaller guys will get bcbs on trucks though. Happy hunting. There's a pretty good amount going out, so it shouldn't be too hard to find at least base bcbs.
