Didn't you hear, everyone in line thought there was a two case limit? Surely those people that came between 3:00pm and 4:00pm to buy the last few cases should be thanking McLovin for the troll post.

Isn't that the truth lol. I have a bottle of rare (and would like to try to get some sort of bottle share together with other similar 'rarities' to offset the cost / make a good day out of it for all involved - I put this in quote because I'm not really sure how rare it is lol.)

But getting back to your post. I can honestly say that I've never had 'THAT' beer, that I was willing to give an arm (or a leg lol) for. If somebody offered me 2 cases of Hipster for my bottle of Rare, that bottle of Rare is GONE lol. Granted, I'm already having buyer's remorse for buying the bottle of Rare. I am NOT, however, having any regrets about the case of Hipster Brunch I bought. Tried one Saturday morning and it was awesome. There are quite a few similarities to CBS, but personally, I view it as more of a KBS style beer and a CBS style beer combined...Which again is/was awesome.

What's funny is that the guy who proposed said trade resides in Michigan (and I'm going to assume guy offering up 2 cases of Hipster lives in Michigan). I still saw BCBS and BCBBW on a shelf TODAY (about an hour ago), and retail prices (BCBS @ $10ish, BCBBW @ $12ish), and I'm about 90% positive there's still some Rare floating around...

Hipster Brunch, on the other hand, NOT so readily available...

Now finding BCBCS in Michigan (at this point)... THAT's a whole different can of worms (as I'm painfully learning lol).

I read tonight (from an Odd Side employee) that they sold all Hipster that was bottled on Saturday and that it will NOT hit distribution this year.

Word from Odd Side is that it's gone. None will hit distro.

We might be able to deduce it if he'd post the rest of his work schedule!

Marthas Vineyard and Smitty's both had BCBS for $10.49, and Costco had it for $7.99 (limit 4)

BULLSHIT! If I'm standing in line at a release with 150 beer loving people behind me, the last thing I'm gonna do is roll by with 27 cases. That's basically like saying to the last guy in line "good luck dickhead, I just bought enough beer for 40 people that aren't even here". I choose not to be that guy because I have some level of beer etiquette. It's sucks some people just don't know how to act. Only child syndrome

Oh boy, I'm starting to cringe everytime I see this thread pop back to the top of the GL forum. I freaking hate it when someone takes what should be a good discussion topic and turns it into a negative bitch fest. Unfortunately I feel like I was that guy in this thread. For what it's worth I offer my apology. My one very minor bitch regarding case limits didn't effect me at all, and I should have left it out of this discussion entirely because it changed my tone regarding my thoughts about the release.

Overall this was an extremely well run release. @joshflashgordon and Reid and the rest of the staff did an excellent job, and most importantly released a bunch of fantastic beers! I was able to chase Bourbon County beers around GR for a while in the morning, drive to Oddside after noon, and was still able to get the beers that I wanted plus a few I didn't even realize would be there (Joker of Tarts!). How can you complain about that?

To Mr. @LSKennedy - As I said earlier, I'm honestly not upset by your muling of cases back to the east side of the state. You played within OddSide's rules and helped out a bunch of fellow OddSide fans. Again I let a minor complaint regarding the lack of case limits effect the tone of my discussion with other beer advocates. Anything left to say regarding that should have been made to you in private.

Let's get this discussion back on track. I cracked my first '15 Hipster last evening and it was amazing! Cheers all!

Well said, classy post and I agree completely. At the end of the day, it is just beer, but I think it's safe to assume everyone on here is a bit more passionate about the craft than the average Joe which sometimes brings out the ugly in everyone. Needless to say, I indeed was a little bent out of shape because I originally had plans to go that were altered by life. Way it is, life goes on. This is however the one beer I wanted to go out of my way for this year. Cheers to all that were able to get some. My initial annoyance of having to trade to obtain Hipster has passed and I still would love to get a 4-pack. If anyone can hook me up please PM me, I have some good stuff in the cellar I can part with. If not, I'll just have to wait until next year. Fortunately, I live in Michigan, and there are plenty of good beers to enjoy to pass the time.

I got so lucky on Friday, in no small part thanks to this forum. I was driving up from visiting family in Indiana with an ETA of 11:30 to Odd Sides. Checked this forum, heard about 3-4 hour waits, and said "screw it." Called Founders, learned they had CBS on tap, and went there for lunch and a couple of CBS's. Delicious. Then, around 2:15 the first CBS keg was done so I checked this forum again, learned there were essentially no lines at Odd Sides, and drove up there. Waited in line for 5 min with my girlfriend and we got a case of HBS, two four-packs of Hazel's Nuts, and two bottles of Morningwood. Sat and tried pints of the first two and of Cherrywood and loved them all.

So, thank you to Great Lakes BeerAdvocate Forum!

The Mokka Munt is, imo, the big winner of the release! Stuff is great!

I have a feeling I will regret not picking up my allotment of Mokka, Hazels, and scallywagger. I considered it, but had already spent waaaaaay too much money on beer Friday before I even made it to OddSide.

I wish I would've taken a picture of my buddy (not even really a beer drinker other than an occasional Bud Light) after I gave him a little taste of Mokka Munt - Priceless bitter beer face hahaha. That being said, I have yet to try a Hazel's, but bought a 4 pack of Scallywagger, Hazels, and Mokka. The Scallywagger, while good, is nothing to get crazy about (unless you're a pineapple/rum person, because wow do you get both of these out of this one...). If you like mint chocolate chip ice cream, you will LOVE Mokka Munt (to me it tasted like a carbonated, liquefied version of mint chocolate chip ice cream - which I enjoyed)
