This has been said many times in this thread and I have to disagree that there is an assortment of BA stouts that are both better than BCBS and are easily obtainable. There are solid non-BA stouts all over, but I don't think there's anything out there like BCBS that I could go to the store and buy whenever I wanted.

Maybe not where you live. I'm just saying there are places where this is the case. A lot of people just get caught up in the hype surrounding a certain beer and the herd mentality kicks in. I've had BCBS a few times but no longer feel any need or desire to seek it out, even if it was readily available ... which evidently it's not.

Gotcha. We get pretty great distro for the time being, but I can't speak to what you can probably snag up in WA.

And my point was simply that despite anyone's dislike of the "hype" around BCBS, the beer isn't any less good. 2015 may be the best year of it as well, which is sad because of the switch from 4-packs. On the brightside, regular BCBS was fairly wide available. My brother was working Friday and drove to buy bottles over lunch, no problem. The variants are what the hype and line waiting were for.

I opted for 2 cases of backwoods bastard instead of hunting down BCBS.

True, it's a good beer. I guess I generally weigh how good a beer is against how easy or hard it is to get (or, similarly, how much it costs). If, for example, I can get a beer that's 90% as good as BCBS with 10% of the effort, or 50% of the cost (or both), I'll do that every single time. Now I admit I would be tempted to try to get the variants, but not at the expense of considerable time or inconvenience. Everyone has to decide for themselves what they're willing to do for a given beer; for me, at this point in my beer career I've decided that it's basically as little as possible.

All good points. There's some definite opportunity costs to be balanced here. I think its worth the time and effort, but it's something sort of grueling, sort of fun, that I do with friends.

There was a time when I wouldn't consider buying a 4-pack because of the added expense compared to a sixer, but times do change.... worse or better? Who knows.

I have read or heard nothing concrete but I do know they sold way more Hipster Brunch at the release than they were planning on. I don't know if they sold all of it or not. If some does go out to distribution, I would not expect it to stay in stores longer than 24 hours.

I don't think they sold through the Mokka Munt or Scalleywager. But I also don't know what they will do with rest of it.

Finally, Oddside did say that they would sell more Hazel's Nut. I got the impression it would be 2 to 8 weeks when they released it. And I don't know how they will release it.

Your best bet is to call Oddside.

So glad everybody hates AB......guess they turn that off for a day? My local store had it again for the 2nd year in a row. It was gone by 930. I was still in bed. 2 years ago I could walk in and simply buy it at will. Not in the hunt there's just as good out there without the effort for my money...

I drove a solar powered kite.

But seriously, I hit a bottle store, a fantastic spot for lunch, and the car dealership for a quick bit of business. All of those take place in the same city, 45 miles away from me. So I was very conscientious of the environment by combining them all into one trip, instead of 3 separate trips.

@Billy_Bars Just enjoy it man. You made a mistake on the chase and spent more money than you needed to but you had the cash anway and you wanted it bad enough, like the rest of us. You won't make the same mistake next year. Haters gon' hate big time, in this place though. I would report the bottle haggling though, to the distributor, that's very unprofessional. I've traded 4-6:1 for 12oz bottles which is outrageous to some and Ive paid bar price for nice bottles but it's just money. Spend it or don't.

My heart goes out to the OP, but after a long discussion my wife assures me that women do it with shoes so things balance out.

Sadly, men can be way worse with shoes. Look up the sneaker culture. Lining up early, paying ungodly amounts, bad behavior at sales, reselling...it's all there and it's almost all being done by men. Pretty much anything were there is can be an extreme, more men will find a way to go way overboard.

I had to do a lot of driving anyway on Friday, so I tried a few grocery stores on Friday looking for regular BCBS and the first two did not get any but the third did have some so I grabbed a few and was happy. The rye doesn't sound good to me anyway (did not like Bramble), and I did not care as much for last year's coffee as I had the past, but I would have liked some barleywine, which I likely could have gotten by going to a store early on Friday but I didn't feel like it. Oh well.
