Hmm, I have this capper and can cap 750 ml Bruery style bottles and 500 ml Jester King style bottles. You just need to get the bigger caps and flip the metal pieces on each side around (larger cut-out on the other side).

I am very curious about capping the Bourbon County bottles on the 500 ml/750 ml setting and just using a standard size bottle cap. I'll have to give it a try.

The spelling error in the thread title proves that the new Bourcon county format is too much.

All relative to location though. For example in chicago we saw that following:

    2014 Reg: 24.99 for 48oz = $0.52/oz
    2014 Nilla Rye 27.99 for 22oz = $1.27/oz
    2015 Reg: 9.99 for 16.9oz = $0.59/oz
    2015 Regal Rye 23.99 for 16.9oz = $1.41/oz

Roughly 13% on reg and 11% on variants. So if the markup was 40% blame your retailers not GI. Sure the beer got more expensive but its underpriced for what it is but its definately not a 40% increase.

Yea I dont get it. People act like if the Drink 16oz of BCS they are going to end up in the hospital. Like what do you do when you find it on tap? ask for a half pour? I have drank 3-5 in a sitting/evening many times and was just fine.

saving some for the next couple of days shouldn't require full-blown re-capping - a cork or rubber bottle stopper should work fine..

All this talk about bottle size for one or two people, recapping and storing for days, taking over three hours to finish one and all on a 16.9 ounce bottle of strong excellent beer.
Seriously I know many folks who will consume multiple bottles in a sitting, should they drive? Of course not and don't but why will people wait forever, pay through the nose and nurse it like it's the blood of Christ? It's excellent beer and is made to be consumed.
I'm not condemning the people who savor it but if it takes you that long to "choke" (sic) it down maybe you should consume something else.

Hell I'll bet that there's a great many of BA's out there that will probably share a 750ml with a friend over three or fours hours this Holiday season and I'm referring to a bottle of bourbon or other spirit, not BBA beer.

Of course this is just my opinion but I've been consuming and serving for over forty years and this is the Holidays, I need a drink :grinning:
    Merry Christmas all

At first i was a little bitter that it was almost 2x the price as the 12oz format, then I remembered how much I've paid for a few other beers in the same format. It's not that bad a couple bottles a year. I poured into a 20oz snifter and had a very comfortable evening at home.

If you have that capper, it definitely should. A good hard pull on the metal pieces with some pliers works for me.

Personally I think the new bottles look really cool, and besides the price per ounce being inexplicably higher I don't have a problem with the 500ml size. I know if it were bombers the $/ounce would probably be even worse, and since it's a pretty heavy hitter I think this size is still pretty reasonable to handle.

If I'm drinking it alone I'll drink it over the course of an hour, maybe longer. If I'm splitting it then it'll be with one person and probably with a cigar, and 250ml each leaves room for more beer to be had before or after.

At the end of the day, Im just glad I was able to score any bottles at all. Lines were long and people showed up super early. No store had any left at the end, but some people got lucky at the front of the line and went back in line to get a few more bottles while they lasted. Kinda pissed me off, but that was the perk to show up super early. Well also getting a bottle of rare for $50 was awesome too, but I wasn't one of the 1st 16 people in line so I didn't get so lucky. Some places were charging up to $100 for a rare.

I agree, there's nothing I would hate more than having an entire keg of bcbs to myself. I'd much rather fight for a place at the bar to get a 4 oz pour and pretend I had enough to like it. Bigger bottles, and they're charging .04% per ounce more...the audacity. The beer's not even that good. I mean...yuengling porter is only $6 a six pack and just as good if not better.

Beer rep told me the 16 oz package was put out to try and curb people buying a 4-pack drinking 2 and selling the others on the internet and profiting off their hard work. Just a thought who knows....

    In Delaware last year, a 4pk of Regular was $19.99 = $0.42/oz
In Delaware this year, a bottle of Regular is $13.99 = $0.83/oz

That regular price is the cheapest. It's ranged from $14 to $20.

That doesn't make any sense. They're going to try to reduce how much is resold by making the beer even more limited? And besides, it's kind of a middle finger to the people in places where you have no hope of buying a whole 4pack anyway.

Lastly, what percentage of BCBS is actually resold anyway? I can't imagine it's more than 1%. If this is true (and I don't think it is) it seems to be solving a problem that barely exists.

I didn't get BC this year because of the $1/oz price, and because I had it on tap twice earlier in the year, but I do think that 16.9oz of a 13% abv beer is probably just the right amount to not have another bottle. Just enough, not too little and not too much to feel it nicely. But of course everyone has their own tolerance level..
