Just learned a valuable lesson regarding BCBS (Specifically that damn box of rare): Put a lock/key on beer cellar lol. Wife just asked to see what was in there and needless to say I'm in the doghouse after she saw the bottle of Rare (and about 30-40 other bottles she didn't realize I had...):grimacing:.

Upon seeing this, her next question was, "HOW MUCH DID YOU SPEND ON BEER THIS WEEKEND???" Fuuuuuuuuck!

I feel exactly the same way about being back in the Kansas City area to visit family. I was actually staying with in-laws in Lawrence (35 mins West of KC) and didn't go out to look for BCBS until after 4pm. Unfortunately, Kansas only gets the regular, but I was able to get plenty without really fighting for it and all at $8.99-9.99/bottle.

Yep. My total haul was 9 BC bottles, so I got the same inquiry from my husband. He drinks Labatt Blue Light and just doesn't understand. Ha

2 reg, 1 coffee, barleywine and rye for $79 in GR, passed on rare. Happy with the haul considering I walked into the store at 430 and right back out. Though cant help but stop and think that it wasnt too long ago that this price also got me 8 reg 2 bombers of coffee and a bomber of cherry rye.

Yeah, if I had known there was only one bottle I probably would have passed. I don't like being "that guy". Still, I probably had about 6 oz and shared the rest. Nice thing about Crunchy's that day, is that there really was no possible way to be disappointed with their offerings, the fact they don't ticket you at the door, and their prices (which were essentially retail). Local shops were selling bottles for more.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, there was a local store that I think was one of the last to get their shipment in on Friday and they decided at the last minute to do a beer dinner instead of sell any retail. I felt really bad for a the couple of guys I know were hanging out there all day waiting for the truck. By then there probably wasn't much left in the other shops....

I guess it's just beer right?

$15 at Livonia Liquor & Fine Wine. They asked me to buy another Goose Island product, so I grabbed a 4 pack of Sofie... after I got home I noticed how much dust was on it, then looked at the bottled on date: 05/02/12.

GI says Sofie can last 5 years, so you could be fine.

The bottle sales this year ensure that this will be a lot shittier next year, sadly. I hope they never do that again.

BCBS and BCBBW were still sitting on shelves at some stores I stopped at on my way home from work today.

BCBCS, on the other hand, is nowhere to be found. Anybody have a local store with BCBCS (West Michigan) willing to help a BA out? It'd definitely be made good on my end if anybody can track a bottle down.

Just wanted to give a quick thanks to the team at 8 Degrees Plato in Ferndale. They were doing their release this morning at 7. I got there about 5 til and was around 47th in line. Unfortunately, they only had enough for about 36 folks, so I and quite a few other people were shut out. What I appreciate is how sincere Tim was in his apology and his thankfulness for our coming out.

I just moved to Detroit (from Chicago) a few months ago and have been way too busy with the new job to search for a new beer store, just had been going to the place closest to me. I decided that I was going to use the BCBS hunt to find my new shop. Find it I did, even though I didn't find any BCBS. They have an awesome selection and the first time I went in last week, the sales person was awesome, walking me through the store and helping me pick out a mixed 6-er (or two) of great local brews and some stuff I couldn't get before.

This place reminds me of the Beer Temple in Chi-town, nice people that really care about their customers and know their beer.

There's just been so much negativity about the beer releases and stores this week, thought I would share a positive story for a little perspective.

I was able to get a bottle of BCBS and the barleywine Friday in Hemlock. Not sure there is any left in the area outside of a store in Saginaw that is charging 49.99 per bottle of BCBS. I really wanted to try the coffee.

Receiving over a thousand calls this past weekend, My regular shop only landed a case of Reg. and BW priced at $13.99 each which he kept it stashed only for us loyals. He also had two bottles of rare that he was going to price at $129.99 each. He said if someone is dumb enough to pay that kind of money, then why wouldn't he sell it? He's actually a really good guy, and I can't fucking stand gouging, but Quite frankly, I don't blame him... He's right

You can't stand gouging but you don't blame him for doing it?

There is always someone who will pay a ridiculous price, doesn't mean he should rip them off. In the case why stop at $130 (aka double...)? Why not go for $200? $300? Because who knows, someone might be stupid enough to pay it.

He should sell it... for the price it should be. I'd love to know which store, so I can make sure not to stop there.

so he got 2 bottles and decided to charge double to make $120? seems silly to me. Why not raffle them off and charge cost?

I know... My statement is contradictory. My point being, that both bottles will probably be gone within a day or two.

While it may be contradictory, it's also a very true statement. I don't agree with anybody overcharging for any beer, but at the same time, SOMEBODY will want it bad enough to pay the asking price. I refuse to be 'that' guy (Bought all my BCBS for $9.99, my barleywine for $12ish, and a bottle of rare for $65). I'd really only fall on the sword, so to speak, if offered a bottle of BCBCS locally for something around $20 or less (I know, I'm dreaming here....).

What I really don't understand with the gouging though, is why said store owners wouldn't just list these beers on beercellar (or something along those lines) where they could likely ask $200, and get it for a bottle of rare. To clarify, if all you truly care about is your bottom dollar, why not go to the sources where you can get it?

I wish someone would use this for a decent cause. As long as this is legal, why not auction some bottles or even charge double. Shop owner pockets the MSRP and the rest goes to charity.

That way folks don't feel so shitty getting taken advantage of.

As someone that had to work on Friday I didn't have many options. I found one reasonably priced place that got theirs delivered late afternoon, the only other places I could find any it was $15-20 for regular.
