yeah that would be great but that doesn't happen around here. You have 2 options here..you either wait hours and get one bottle if your lucky maybe at retail. Or you find a store that is hiding them behind the counter and will offer you the "privilege" of buying one for a significant markup.

I'm sure he didn't issue it in a press release. But I'm also sure he's glad to have the dollars of all those beer geeks who swore Anheuser Busch products weren't good enough for them. Every little bit helps. And now those beer geeks are his customers too.

We live in a time when there is a tremendous amount of really good stuff out there. Bourbon County is great. So is a whole lot of other stuff. Unfortunately, i think we are just seeing the beginning of sky-high prices on white whales.

I'd simply say, you're welcome, if you made beer this good more often that we'd buy more of it.

Perhaps, but the next whale is just around the corner so that keeps it in check

Nope, we consumers will use the hyperbole machine, and push "value" skyward, thus shooting ourselves in the foot.

There was no hassle at Pint Defiance when I got my BCBS, but of course it's Washington and the hype is handled differently here. I even paid $10 per bottle which seems from this thread to be a good price.

I picked up two bottles of regular and one barleywine as part of a rewards program at a local shop. I'd loved to have gotten a coffee but I'm happy with what I have. St. Louis went pretty crazy (camping overnight, etc.) on Black Friday for Bourbon County and the bottles disappeared pretty quickly. More power to them.

Beer hoarders that will jack up prices for everyone for the next 12 months are another story...

I think this thread exemplifies the real pleasure I got after coming upon a floor stack of 5 cases of BCBS in a supermarket in town that usually has a mediocre selection of beer - I wasn't aware of the "Black Friday" release or the hype surrounding it - neither was the store - kind of a humble-brag[IMG]

The Bourbon County release is a scaled up view of what takes place at smaller, limited releases across the county year round. We're just getting a national view of what a growing segment of craft beer has become. Yes there are positive aspects to 'Bourbon County' but I'd argue that the negative aspects far outweigh them unfortunately. And we are all complicit with the negative aspects - from consumers to retailers to distributors to AB/GI itself. The same issues and behaviors we have seen this year will occur all over again next year, just as they occurred last year & in years prior. The only difference is the number of people it impacts as each year more and more people have an interest in it.

    Is bcbs ruined?

I'd say no it still tastes fine.

A better question is did we ruin the release of bcbs?

That happened long before this year but yes ultimately we did but not so thoroughly that events can't be enjoyed anymore. Unless of course your so filed with contempt and pessimism that not getting what you want ruins your day.

Honestly the worst part is the never ending discussion its year round now I mean look at the front page of BA there's like 6 or 7 active bcbs threads plus all the regional ones. I mean think of what could be accomplished if we dedicated all that thinking power into something productive.

Another good question is are we consuming bcbs or is it consuming us?!?!

Congratulations to you on a nice find!

Not only was the store you found it at unaware of the Black Friday release, but apparently they were also unaware of the two errors on their signage. I must admit that I'm a bit jealous that you got 25oz. bottles...:rolling_eyes:
