I am currently drinking a lovely Port City Tidings, which is not only brewed here in Alexandria, but uses Virginia wheat and Maryland honey.

I have also tried Hardywood RVA made with hops from Richmond.

What are some beers you have enjoyed made with local hops, local fermentables, or local adjuncts?

None really, but it's something the market needs in my opinion.

Odell Footprint was made with an ingredient from every state they distribute to, if I remember correctly.

I don't have the faintest idea if the beer I've had was made with local ingredients. But that would be interesting.

A little different, but Jester King makes a big point about their local "microflora."

Honey is used in some of the local beers in my area. With the way the drought is going, California will soon have to exclude water as a local ingredient.

I believe Ommegang uses all NY hops in some of their beers (maybe Hopstate NY and Cooperstown ale?) But even if that is true, I can't really claim it to be local considering it's a 4hr drive away or so.

    This isn't even fair.

But Fresh Hop season is such a hyperlocal thing and it's incredible. There are breweries outside Pac NW that do Fresh Hop beer, but I really wish I could share with the rest of the country exactly how great Fresh Hop IPAs can be.

Not the best one out there, but Lucky Lab does one called "The Mutt" each year where they invite people basically growing backyard hops to contribute and pile them all into a beer. Really cool concept and usually a good, interesting beer.

Just because their aren't as many doesn't mean there aren't any.

Honey, various herbs, local wood used to smoke malts, local flowers, lots of local fruits and veggies have all been used in beers around here.

Much of the oak in bourbon barrels is from Missouri so I suppose that gives Bourbon BA beers a local component?

I find it odd when you hear "local" applied to coffee and chocolate, but I guess if its roasted/processed locally then it still counts.

Honey for sure. I believe a few breweries have used massachusetts grown hops & grains in more limited batches.

NYS implemented some brewery-friendly tax-incentives under the "Pride of NY" (or whatever it's called) program. If a brewery applies, they have to derive a certain % of all of their ingredients from NY, the grand total is supposed to surpass 75% by 2018. Many of the local breweries in and around the Fingerlakes use local hops and malts, and a handful are 100% locally sourced

I like both those breweries. I am not sure but does Lickinghole Creek use local ingredients?

I think there may be more than we suspect who use local ingredients where it makes sense. I can think of a handful without trying too hard. My local farm brewery grows their own hops and uses grains grown in state when the price makes it feasible. I think it may be difficult to do 100% of the time, though.
