Ok cool, I must just not be remembering well. I agree then that the price isn't bad relative to last year, but it's still really bad relative to what it's selling for this year most other places. Coffee is my favorite variant though, and so it's surprising to me that it sells for so much less than Regal, which just seems to be priced completely out of wack. I still want to grab a bottle if I can find one though.

I am sure you will see it pop up in some places over the next week or so. This thread while it helps out some people identify where BCBS is, at the same time kinda fucks people who can't leave work at the drop of a hat to scoop them up, so most of the same people are going to grab them.

Think of Regal as the same as VR or Backyard, which were both around $25 the last two years while coffee was closer to the BW price.

The fruited variants are priced more than the coffee by GI...

Oh yea, I know GI sets the prices higher and I know it's in line with years past. I just meant that I'm continually surprised that coffee is so affordable relative to the fruited/rye variants, especially when I think the coffee is much better (VR notwithstanding).

It's prob just because it's a lot easier to get a shit ton of coffee beans rather than fruit/vanilla beans. Also it price was prob closer when we had the old bottles and coffee was almost half the size.

The new bottle size kinda messes everything up, and since we were already used to the $25 price for the Rye variants, GI prob fucked us by keeping the same price but putting it into a smaller size.

Definitely this above for the fruited. Also for VR last year, I recall paying close to $40 for the bottles I landed in the city. That was more of an NYC thing because everywhere else around the country they were more like $25.

I know those luxardo cherries are pretty expensive from a consumer standpoint. I was given a "normal" sized jar, 14oz, which is about 100 cherries and it cost 25 bucks. The BCBS video series shows them dumping them in by the gallon. Im sure the overall cost of the cherries is far exceeded by other factors like grain, but the per pound price of these cherries vs the coffee is a significant difference.

Second, additions like coffee wont risk a secondary fermentation, whereas the addition of cherries will. Granted it wont be significant, but its possible they have to keep the beer in a different vessel to accommodate that additional fermentation, and hold up other production to do so, thus an increase in overhead costs

Thanks - this makes a lot of sense. Didn't realize those cherries were so expensive.

they are also totally worth the price, absolutely fantastic product. when i finally run out i will gladly buy more. Assuming everyone here likes bourbon considering BCBS, they are the ideal maraschino for an old fashioned or a Manhattan. they are absolutely stellar.

On top of what @hyperguy220 said, they are also putting these in Rye barrels, not sure if that is more costly than the normal BB.

Predictably: instant sellout of Regal and Coffee at Malt and Mold. Still regular and barleywine.

Looked like a case of each, one per person. High price but worth it for closeness to my office and not having to hunt anymore.

it's funny to be reading this - because I called Wegman's 4-5 times in the morning (up until noon) and was told each and every time that it hadn't arrived. So, I went over to Wegman's at 12:15/12:30pm on my lunch to grab food and see if BCBS came in. I was told to "talk to the manager in the back". I went back there and I asked for RR and/or Coffee and was told that they only got RR and it sold out as soon as they hit the store 90 minutes prior to my arrival...!!!

I dont mind that they likely wanted to hold it for those that shop there more regularly than I (im in there once in a while), but at least get your lies (stories) straight...
