Bruery 2015 RS/HS Allocations

with this logic, the bruery shouldnt even have growlers at all, I mean, If its not a white whale growler fill, whats the point! am I right?

needing special growlers to carry coveted beer is ridiculous to begin with, but making people get new growlers yearly is even worse. any card carrying member should be able to get any year growler filled.

Tell you what, if you manage to complain enough for them to reverse their decision, I'll give you first dibs on buying my 2015 HS growler so you can get even more fills. You're welcome.

 

I hope that part about "brown" imperial stout is nothing to worry about...and about the salt. Hopefully it's a just a tiny tiny hint of it.

 

Pretty sure they're going for Dead Sea type salinity levels. Personally, I'm looking forward to filling up my bathtub and floating in it.

 

does it actually say somewhere that we will not be able to get fills with older growlers, or are people going off the rails and complaining about a non-existent issue?

 

Bruery responded and said they won't fill the 2015 growlers with RS/HS exclusive beer in 2016. I don't understand why anyone is upset about that since the 2015 growlers are junk anyway.

Probably because most people would rather have something functional as part of their membership...Truth is, it was a waste of money last year and on top of that it's not usable anymore for 2016...I guess we should all get them exchanged for the new ones at a discount or something to be fair.

 

My growler has never given me any problems, I would like to continue to use it, don't really want another, rather have the bag. But if they won't refill the old growler, I'll have to get the new one and buy the bag. Sucks.

But I am excited to put Chocolate Salty BBls in my mouth!

 

I think the thing to note here is some beers they have at the tasting room are draft only, so getting a growler option for those is nice. Not every fill has to be a whale.

In 2016...
2016 Society Member Miir 32 oz growlers may be filled with Society exclusive offerings.
2015 Society Member Hydroflask 32 oz may NOT be filled with society exclusive offerings. But they may be filled with a 32 oz fill of any generally available beer.

Is this the plan for every year going forward? I rarely used my Hydroflask 32 because I constantly had problems with it/had to get it replaced, so it doesn't bother me that much that I can't use it next year. But, if I were to purchase the Miir separately (as I chose the bag for 2016), would that only be good for 2016 RS offerings, or would it extend into 2017, etc. as long I as I remain a card-carrying member?

 

Any chance we could get the rationale behind this decision?

 

You can still get fills, just not the RS/HS exclusive beer. It's a bit lazy on Bruery's part I agree, but far from a "useless" product. Besides, they work fine for water regardless of year (the only thing you should be using that crap growler for anyway).

 

To sell more merchandise to a captive audience that wants the exclusive growler fills. Gotta pay to play!

 

I think it's because they could not support the amount of demand. They want everyone to try and get a taster of the RS beer and take it home, but supporting two 32s of RS beer would cause it to go faster. I talked with one of the brewers briefly on this and some friendly tasting room people.

 

My guess is this. Its already tough to keep the good beer in stock for growler fills and if you let people double up, its going to go twice as fast.

 

Hmmmm, Maybe archive bottle room sales should be limited to those who have the 2016 bag.

I guess what really gets me about this. Is that it wasn't mentioned in the renewal, even though "access to special growler fills" was listed as one of the "benefits". No mention, not even in the fine print, that its only for members with the 2016 growler.

Nor was it mentioned in the email to make your merchandise choice.

I'm sure they would let you switch if you wanted to and yes, we can always buy the 2016 growler. But its seems less then customer friendly to not be up front about this.

I've always been impressed by The Bruery's customer service. But in this case, I don't think they lived up to their high standard.
