In local beer news: Draai Laag posted that they're putting Yodeler into bourbon barrels (they showed a Buffalo Trace, but I'm assuming that's one of several). This excites me. I may need to navigate a new route to get there quicklier.

You'd better bring your kid with you or else you won't be able to get your growler fill.

This excites me greatly. I really enjoyed Yodeler the last time it was bottled.

I would say calling any establishment to ask what they have on draft is uncouth. But I guess that's just me :flushed:

So, you're the guy always calling when I'm busy. If I said, "All of them?" I meant do you just want to know what's good or do you want the good/IPAs/Stouts/AALs. Most people just want to know what IPA or dark beer or whatever.

Half of the time I actually can't remember what we have on because I'm focused on other parts of the business at the time. I only think about draft when ordering draft, when a keg kicks, and when I get off work.

What? Why? I could see if they posted it online somewhere...or maybe even their phone message rattled it off...then yeah, by all means use your resources...but if they aren't available, I'm not gonna just try my luck...every place is too far for that  The way I see it is if they pride themselves on the beer they serve and it's a focal point of their business then it should be updated somewhere. If not, they are asking for and deserve phone calls.

Would you go to the movies without knowing what was playing??

I think that is perfectly reasonable to call. I should make a better effort to post the draft list on twitter more often though. There just never seems to be enough time.

But you post what you have on tap online, right? So the people that call are doofuses.

    EDIT: I got my answer...

yep...exactly. And like I said...if it's there, then shame on the person calling.

(EDIT: I feel like there was an ulterior motive behind your comment, but I don't have the energy right now to figure out what that might be...just wanted to acknowledge that I'm sure there was some other meaning behind it :grinning:)

Unfortunately some places aren't allowed to have personalized twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts. (Basically just my store and I would bet the Shapira's haven't signed off on shadyside_beer)

See that Schuylkill mall had 1 floor and like 10 stores in it, during it's heyday, also a Movie Theater, but now, nothing.

It's probably Pappy because Buffalo Trace is Pappy just more expensive. Amirite!?

I think I could get something set up where any BA who ventured into GEMDH20WRX or GEMDSHADY (or anywhere) could take a picture with their phone and text/email it over. Then anyone with access could update the lists. Minimal effort for employees if they took the picture themselves.

Something like this: http://epicure.io/o/giant-eagle which is what drives House of 1000 Beers beer lists on their web site and in the bar.

I think there's a few other websites out there that tried to do this same thing but I'm not sure how up to date they are.

Isn't there a tap finder website or something that tells you what places have on tap (Serious question)

Yeah, I think there's a pile of sites like that, but they're only as good as the people that actually keep it up to date.

I could also wire up each locations Untappd feed to get an idea of what is being drank but that's probably not always accurate.

Yes. We use beermenus.com to keep our draft list updated but its also "not approved" by the regional brass. I just did it one day.
