Yeah, I'm not sure I see the problem if you have to have the current membership to get the special growler fills. It just means that a container that some may have come to like is no longer an option.

I mean, it's not like I even get growler fills, but seems like as long as your membership is current, it should be an issue.

Companies make mistakes. If the company corrects "the error" with ease of an email or telephone call that's great customer service. They don't have to do anything If they don't feel like it.

it wouldn't be a Bruery Society thread without a long, drawn-out growler drama. 2016 is looking good for continuing this tradition

I disagree. I rarely used the growler this year for the member fills....as for the non-exclusive beers I think just Berazzled. But true, it's pretty decent for water.

I will personally help cherish this tradition!

I think this is really dumb!! Are you doing this because there were so many issues with the 2015 growlers? If so, say hey we screwed up, we suck, and going forward we will not be filling those growlers with society exclusive beer.
So now I have an almost useless growler because the last thing I want is 32oz fills of smoking wood, jardiner, and whatever else. Is there anyway to take the bruery logo off the growler? That way I can at least fill it at other breweries in the area that allow blanks.
So basically I have to get the new growler. I rarely fill my 64 oz growler because there is rarely stuff I want 64 oz of and I don't want to spend $20 for Humulus.
I think a better solution is only allowing one 32 oz. growler fill of society exclusive beer with any society growler.

Use it for water, or to hold all of your QQ tears. =)

You guys are ridiculous, why do you think a growler gift in 2015 would be a lifetime pass for exclusive fills?

Matt posted exactly what I expected. 2015 are retired for exclusive fills but still fair game for anything else available. In 10 years should we be getting 10x fills of stuff like Melange10 each trip? Nothing decent would ever last

Nobody is asking for that buck. Way to miss the point.

I only want 1 fill, and if you read my post it says that.

a growler gift? I think most of us paid for our membership.

a lifetime pass for exclusive fills?

I don't think the expectation was a lifetime pass, but rather:
"The benefits of a Reserve Society® membership in 2016 run from January 1 to December 31 and include:"
    ...
    "Access to special growler fills"

The confusion is over the missing "provided you select as your merchandise or buy the 2016 32oz growler."

I know I'm beating this horse to death, but it would have been nice to know this up front, along with the rationale. It just feels a bit like a bait and switch. But that's just my opinion.

All in all, its a minor issue.

The moment I'm not a member I won't expect the benefits, but I have this exclusive growler from the past year and I can't get a fill in it because it's not logo'ed for 2016? Seems silly. It's a vessel and as long as I have the card, it should entitle one for fills of the special stuff.

I would agree that it is a minor issue, it is just really dumb and now I have to get the growler that I don't need.

I'll throw some fire on this, only because I am in the section of not living in CA, as are a lot of RS/HS members, so a growler of anything is a non starter anyway. Why would I want either growler if I can't use it? I agree there should have been a disclaimer on it's use, but otherwise a lot of people can't use them anyway, regardless of what year they got them.

The example of making beers last can still be done with still using both growlers. Just allow 1 fill per visit with member id. If you need to have a beer that bad and go back the next day to get a second fill that's your time and likely you will still drink at the bar. If you wanted to be shady and have a second person fill your other growler you have bigger issues. You shouldn't be identified of the growler you have but your membership.

I have a better way to look at it... Matt just outlined exactly what is going to happen, and no matter how much griping there is, it won't change.

Change has and will happen due to griping. Maybe not this time, but customers letting the vendor know their thoughts works.

So much growler talk. I come to this thread to get away from the Growler talk of the Pittsburgh thread...

Also, where did it say you can buy the other next year? Can you buy the bag next year too if you already got the bag or are you only limited to buying the growler if you got the bag or vice versa.

First sentence, yes, any 2-4yr old knows this and it is sad.

Second sentence, sounds a lot better and providing constructive feedback instead of the bitching and moaning in some (not all) posts would be more beneficial.

Granted since this is all text the sincerest of requests can easily be seen as complaining/whining/etc....

I think this is easy for me to accept as the outcome since I have only really used mine for water at the gym and due to my proximity to the Bruery I don't get up there that often for fills anyways. Those that live near, well yes, completely different outlook perhaps.

Because you don't need to be a member to get them filled. Trustees can use the growlers to get fills without showing a card or proving membership, thus different growler for different years.
