Instead of creating a fresh thread, I thought I would mention that Great Divide is doing a glass release on Saturday at 11 AM at the Barrel Room.

But not just any glass. It's a custom Spielglau glass, designed in collaboration with 4 breweries (I forget which ones). The one at GD says "Great Divide Barrel Aged" on it, in white letters, in the same style as the new label. The glasses are $12 for 1 or $20 for 2.

In addition, they are releasing a very limited quantity of GD cellared Barrel Yeti, at reasonable prices. They have a 2008, 2009, (only something like 8 bottles of the 2009) and other vintages including 2014. They have a bunch of "packages" and they have other swag as well. They are still doing tastings of 2015 Barrel-Aged Yeti, and selling the bottles. They also have some vintage GD Barrel-Aged Old Ruffian Barleywine, and Barrel-Aged Hibernation for sale.

I will probably show up about 10:45 AM if I can convince my wife this is a good idea. More info is available on their Facebook page, and if anyone wants to post that info, it would be appreciated (Facebook is blocked here).

    Looking forward to Liquid Brain.
Luckily, I have Barrel-Aged Avarice to keep me company until then.
    Damn, that is delicious.

I know this is a stouts and porters thread, but I had some 2014 Copper Kettle Well Bred last night and it was fantastic. I love English style barleywines, but there are not that many out there. This is one of the best!

Had it on tap at Copper Kettle a couple days ago and this year's might be my favorite batch yet. Still has that classic Hersey Syrup chocolate taste that I love. My only complaint is that it's a tad too bitter, but every year has always has been that way to me.

Just drank it. Great stout flavors. Nice bit of spice. Mouthfeel is on point. Not tons of bourbon but lots of oak. 2nd use barrels? Would like either more time or fresher barrels. With such a saturated market I'd rate it at a seven out of ten, with 10s being the heaviest of hitters. Just needs slightly more bourbon pop to be totally upper level. Base beer is great though, Many layers chocolate, spice, some hidden dark fruity brightness. Not overly sweet to become cloying at all which is a huge plus. Glad I drank it, will grab one more but not the whole shelf.

Superfan though, I've been crushing and sending to all my friends. That beer is great.

Thanks for the feedback. It was 3 bourbon barrels - two first use, one second use. We are definitely going for all first-use next year.

And thanks for the compliment on Superfan.

I've been sitting on a bottle of Liquid Brain for a year. Anyone know how those age? Been waiting for the right time to share it, way too much booze and oz to drink myself.

The latest version (released this time last year) is drinking great right now. The previous one is heading into territory that isn't as much to my liking. It sat in bottles for a while before it was sold, so it's older than it initially seems, too.

Thank you for that @Domingo. Pretty sure it is the one released this time last year, so I'll be sure to crack it soon!

I have 1 '13 left, but I might as well hold out until '15 comes around. '13 tasted great with a year on it, I'm hoping 2 isn't a year too many. If that's the case, it's good info to have going forward.

I'm not a fan of BWs really, but the ones I do like tend to be along the English lines, more malty than hoppy. I really liked Well Bred '13 & '14. But I didn't care for '15 much. I was sitting there drinking it trying to figure out what is was I didn't like, nothing really stood out as "I really don't like ______ about it".
But the best I could come up with is: It wasn't quite as malty as previous years, I wouldn't call it hoppy, but it was was less malty and sweet. The barrel presence was about the same as previous years, which to me means - there but not prominent or overwhelming. The finish is what killed me though: it was bitter. This is where I lose the description. It wasn't quite a hoppy bitter, but almost. The whole thing frankly left me wondering what the hell the beer was supposed to be.
I only had 1 on tap. I usually would get a 2nd to reaffirm my opinion or hope for a better result. But I passed on a second and definitely did not grab a bottle.
I'm a big fan of many of the bigger beers they put out and I really like the brewery and the people there, so it pains me some to dislike this one so much.

Stopped into Odd13 yesterday and tried out that Saint Nicole. Only had a half pour but really enjoyed it. Enough to purchase a bottle to share in the near or distant future. A lot of great barrel character without being overly boozy. This one definitely packs a punch at 14%! They still have a few cases left and I overheard that they're setting some aside for the holiday party later in December too. Get it before it's gone!

    I need some opinions please.
AC Golden Ctayt batch 3 just hit the shelves in Colorado Springs, in limited fashion. The entire city got 2 cases- 1 is at Veterans and one is at Cheers.
Anyway, I know how limited these batches are. One could argue that Ctayt is more rare than BC Rare, better priced, and possibly as good? It did win another gold medal at GABF this year.

Anyway, opionions on Ctayt? It doesn't get a lot of national buzz, but perhaps it is worthy of more buzz. It's selling for $24, which is steep, but not totally insane. 750 ml bottles as well. Also, it's very close to the same price as GD Barrel-Aged Yeti, but I haven't had either yet so I am not qualified to compare the two.
