Considering I enjoyed it, got all the BCS and variants I wanted, didnt spend a nickle over msrp and it took exactly 7 hours of my time. Worth it.

kind of strange how Chi seems to be the hardest place to get it

    beer geeks ruin everything

in KC area, the regular was plentiful with almost no lines anywhere, as usual

Plus what are you going to do on Black Friday? My dad was like "You went out at 8am to get beer that you couldnt get until 11am?". Opposed to what? Sitting on the couch and watching netflix....

This says it all. The couple times I have waited in line for a limited release were good times. Admittedly they were only for an hour, but a lot of fun. Beer people that I have met are in general fun so why not.

I think an hour is pretty reasonable. 8 hours plus though, that's a bit silly unless you find a way to make an event out of it.

I have a part time job at a cupcake shop. We make a few cupcakes with beer. The left over beer always goes in my coffee cup during shift. It is the most brilliant thing.

my dear god its just fxkin beer, who gets up at 3 am or wait for the business to open or waits out in the cold for beer. there is plenty of beer out there better than borboun county or any of the big whales that people wait in lines for. I've never known or seen anyone doing such things around here and i dont think im just lucky because of where I live because there is good beer being brewed everywhere. its the beer culture that needs to mature up.

I think it really depends on where you live. There really wasn't much of a shortage of it regular in MA. A friend sent me an email telling me about a local place that was doing an even, special tastings (that were VERY compelling) for the first 20 people in line, but I wasn't going to camp out. I just showed up at 8pm, was maybe 40th in line. Walked in and got a 4 pack of 2014 stout, 4 pack of 2014 barley wine and one 500ml each of 2015 coffee and barleywine. I actually FORGOT to buy this year's stout.

Realized my mistake two days later and hit the store again. They had 30 cases of stout on the floor. Even day of the even they were selling them by the case if you wanted them. I grabbed four bottles and might head over again to grab four more for a buddy down in North Carolina. Apparently their allotments were so tight that very few places had any left over.

To InBev's credit they are trying to handle this part of Goose Island without killing it (which overproducing would do.)

People do it all over the nation. For some its beer. For others its a TV.

Yeah, I could see how you can have fun with that, a little campout or tailgate style.

as much as it sucked to wait out there in the cold, rain and wee hours of the night, it was definitely a lot of fun. There was a group of guys ahead of us with the right idea of bring a big tailgating tent, table, chair, propane heater, cards to play, and I'm sure they were beer sharing. Its a fun guys night out kind of thing

I think "we" let the Bourbon County release get out of hand, but not necessarily ruin it.

I sat this year's release out. Sure, the ABI factor sits in the back of all of our heads, but that was not the issue with me. I was fortunate enough to buy all of the varieties from the last three years, all of which were very worth while. The whole idea of waking up early, standing in line, waiting to hear the classic "You mean you are all waiting in line for BEER?!" comments from shoppers of other stores, and then handing a decent chunk of my paycheck over to a grumpy liquor store cashier just didn't seem appealing to me this year. It was also raining (significant factor if we are being completely honest).

It basically boils down to preference and priorities. If you like being apart of this release, then embrace it. Otherwise just sleep in and go to the liquor store later in the day to snag other Black Friday releases.

I just saw 25 cases sitting at a store. All regular of course. It is certainly not that limited if it gets nationwide distribution and that much is still sitting around. I wonder if the hype will start to fade as they increase production.
