Duluth/Superior Visits and Helpful Info

Nice writeup....I hit Duluth every year. Will be there this weekend and look forward to Fitger's which has always been solid. Hopefully they have something sour. Does anyone know if the Keyport growler list is current?

 

Bell's Mango Habanero Oberon and Oktoberfest available for growler fills at Keyport. This place has been getting great Bell's kegs lately.

 

True, but you can also take advantage of the outdoor seating at Sir Benedict's, and if you're willing to drive a bit and bring food from elsewhere Castle Danger's taphouse also has a dog-friendly patio.

 

I've seen people out on the patio at Fitger's with their dogs quite a few times.

 

I recall 2015 to 2016 being their target year, but the plan was still being developed (would it be a taproom, only, or a fully-featured brewpub?) when I last contacted them.

That was a year ago, already. In the recent year they have been made available in a good many more retail locations (and a heaping handful of "draught accounts"), so I'd imagine that we'll see their big plan for Duluth take shape fairly soon.

 

Is there a good "sports" bar to grab a good beer and watch the Vikings game on Sunday without going into canal park? In Duluth or in Two Harbors. The wife and I are heading up to Larsmont on Sunday and while we normally stop at Fitgers. I can't remember seeing many(if any) TVs in the bar or restaurant area.

I see Grizzly's is up there, but I wouldn't mind stopping somewhere that can't be found everywhere.

 

I re-checked. Blacklist's plan was for a small taproom and cafe. But the plan is further out -- maybe 2017 ~ 18.

 

Thanks for the idea. That place looks real nice, I really like the old bar feel to it. Although not sure how much of a mood we'll have for mexican on Sunday morning heh

Thanks for the bump. I'd done a search for Duluth conversations, but hadn't gone back quite far enough to pick this up. Nice thread, very helpful.

 

Keyport has growler fills of Sixpoint's Spilled Beans (BA version 5Beans) available right now. Great beer. I was very surprised to see it on the menu. This place never ceases to amaze me with the quality & rarity (for lack of a better term) of the beers they put on the growler station. There is always something I want to try (more often a couple things), whenever I make it up there.

 

Get the Portland Malt shop in that list. Best malts in the state.

 

Had an ice cream cone at 10:30pm on Saturday night from there......

Keyport has growler fills of Barley John's Dark Knight BA Baltic Porter. A lot cheaper than expected @ $19 a growler and $10 a howler.
